Clarification - when we get to release a player at the halfway mark, do we have to maintain the PA and IP requirements?
Frankly, that's a very good question and the answer is yes, we have to main WIS's programming-enforced PA and IP requirements. What I confess I don't know, however, is whether they are the same 1375 IP/162 and 5500 PA/162, or whether they give further leeway and reduce them a bit.  I think they may reduce the minimums just a bit, from my OL experience, but that's only an impression. I don't know. Have to research....

Edit: working on it, thanks. Feel free to search it yourself too. I'll also look into an OL that I'm in...

So my understanding is that it's based in the RL PA/162 and IP/162 totals if all your hitters. What happens in the sum doesn't matter. So if you have 5500 and drop 500 you need to add back at least 500.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. I might have to rethink things to take better advantage of this.

Does an Open League draft not require 5,000 PA/162? That's what it says at the top, for an Exhibition League. I have an open league team with 4,808 PA/162 (for the fielders) on the regular 25-man roster. Or, is 4,800 the minimum for doing an Open League and WIS staff just wants to confuse us?  I suspect that's true.    So, if it's 4,800 to draft an OL team and 4,800 thereafter, also whatever it actually is for an OL pitching staff (WIS mentions 1,250) then it will be that thereafter.

That would mean the minimums here of 5,500 fielder PA/162 and 1,375 pitcher IP/162 will continue to be the minimums and there is no "grace" allowed after the draft.

Serious question though. I suppose I can drop another thirteen bucks, to find out.  EDIT: should be doing that in just a bit and making it relatively definitive.

I've looked into an Open League draft and their minimums appear to be exactly what they continue to be. So I think we may assume the same here. (BTW for Open Leagues, while they say their minimums are 5,000 PA/162 and 1,250 IP/162, they're actually 4,800 PA/162 and 1,200 IP/162, which I find pretty hinky.)

Note:  The minimums here of 5,500 fielder PA/162 and 1,375 pitcher IP/162 will continue to be the minimums and there is no "grace" allowed after the draft, from what I see.

Thanks for checking up on it

Welcome.  Now, someone needs to come along and keep Jose Lima from getting lonely.

Ok ok, Arlen convinced me to read the forum and I like it. I'm in with everything TBD later this afternoon.

Busch Stadium (Ii) and 2006 Bob Howry for my two picks. Picks for others coming this afternoon

Sorry to have to do this, but 1892 Tom Brown is gonna get to a lot of balls in the outfield. And he's going to catch very few of them.

For the pitcher, I'm going to be truly cruel and pick the 185 IP version of the already selected 1953 Johnny Lindell. At least he costs a little less, right?

One more clarification - the waiver wire will be available all season and can be used as much as we want, with the exception that none of the albatrosses can be waived before the all-star break and only one of them afterwards. Is this correct?

Correct!  Maybe I can see if I can make that and another thing I was just asked about clearer in the top post.... Edit: I further defined it, as follows:

  • Waiver wire will be active for normal use, but NONE of the THREE ALBATROSSES may be waved before the All-Star game and only ONE of the THREE ALBATROSSES may be waived afterward. Any offending team team does not qualify for the playoffs and its owner pins a Shun Me! note on his keister for future themes, for whomever notices.  :-)

Catching up.... Delighted to have you Ozo, grasshopper....

Lots of owners are getting lots of bad IP/162. I wonder how we'll all compensate -- with ace pitchers? -- with batters and fielders? -- balance, to gain equilibrium?

Well reddtrain, I just started Herm Wehmeier in an exhibition league. Here are the results:

Player % IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA
Herm Wehmeier, L (0-1) 100 0.1 3 5 5 3 1 0 32 135.00

You are an EXCELLENT scout!

Didn't allow a single home run, either.
