Aye, he was.  Struck down in his prime, meningitis they say,
I didn't realize - I'm probably the last person on WIS to - that Joss has the lowest career WHIP in baseball history.
No, apparently I'm the last.

Apparently I'm also the last to know about the 2009 Ben Zobrist. Sheesh is HE a bargain!

(These are probably things you learn in open leagues?)

Something tells me his white blood cell count was more important than his WHIP by 1910.

Yes, and this is why I've always thought that there should be more higher cap themes in the tournament.  There are definitely decisions to make at $140M, $160M, and $180M that are different than those made at $70-100M.  I believe that there are very strong owners who do well at the higher cap levels who don't participate in this tournament because there isn't anything here for them.  Knowing cookies at $70-80M isn't any different than knowing them for the higher caps.

I understand what you are saying PQ.  What I have found though in creating theme league ideas is that it's tougher to get variation between rosters the higher the salary cap.  A lot of the puzzle/twist type themes simply don't work at the higher caps.  That being said, maybe I can replace the 110 with a 160 next year.

I still feel 100M is the best cap to work with as there are an unlimited number of creative theme ideas that fit this salary structure.

I wonder if a higher cap league would be easier in round 2 when there tend to be more drafts for these teams.  Based on this year's themes, I would have exchanged the $80M theme for a $140M theme.  For me, the biggest issue with higher caps is that the pitching staff is much easier to build.  But, there are many different ways to build an offense.  And, if the league was in Coors that would force some significant strategic decisions that aren't normally confronted at lower cap levels.

In my opinion there would be have to be quite a few amount of restrictions on a league of 140mil or higher. Otherwise we will see most of the same players. I think a 130 instead of 110 or 120 is the best option. Any higher and you are probably looking at similar teams

Well, it has happened already. My bullpens in the three lowest caps are fatigued and getting close to the point where they will not be able to recover. I usually draft enough innings but just blew it this time.

Two 10-7 teams and four 8-9 teams. Definitely going nowhere fast here.

I'm digging one heck of a hole

if you do that, then maybe instead of the $120 we should have a $60.  ;-`  "Low cap" of 60-70M is really closer to accurate simming of Major League Baseball in SLB than 80M, pardon the Capt. Obvious reminder. And as for simulating, I'd like to see some use of (standardized?) AAA in some themes. It is such an artificial limitation to have to use only 25 total players.

It's not like managing teams with schwarze themes doesn't take iterative management anyway.

(I'm a big fan of hi-touch daily management of few teams, I confess. As for me, doing six teams at once is over the top for my WIS/hobby time.)

PS: Love actual, "live" drafts!  (And all this doesn't mean I'm at all certain I'll make the cut.)

WTF?

70M:  Up 2-0 going into 9th.  Lose 7-4 in extras
80M:  Up 4-1, lose 5-4
90M:  Up 4-0, going to 7th, lose 5-4.
100M: Up 3-0, going into 7th, lose 5-3.

WIS hates relievers, schwarze. We all know they increase batting in late innings for teams that are a bit behind.    And to keep this thread on course, I will now issue my persistent BIG WHINE...

Other owners can get away with playing slightly fatigued pitchers, but that hasn't been... me!  (It's all a conspiracy. WIS is actually a set of mental reaction and profiling experiments by DARPA and the CIA, done at the request of the people who sponsor the WEF at Davos and the Bilderberg summits, backed of course by the overall F.K.A. Illuminati. Okay, that last sentence starts facetiously, but may get more sober as it proceeds to its end.)

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!  (I'm stomping up the stairs to the bedroom, now. Going to lie face-down on my pillow and sob.)
