Or perhaps in a mashup of the two...Braves to the central, which makes more sense geographically and move the Reds out west, which also has historical precedence.

Going with this:

Division Alignment (updated)

NL East: Phillies, Mets, Expos/Nats, Marlins
NL Central: Pirates, Braves, Cubs, Cardinals
NL West: Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Reds
AL East: Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, Blue Jays
AL Central: Indians, Tigers, Brewers, Royals
AL West: Mariners, Athletics, Astros, D-Backs

I'm more inclined to go with the "historic" option you proposed. Really don't want to break up Cubs-Cardinals.  As a Cubs fan, that just seems unholy.
A Cubby fan...that must be painful. Still O-for-Wrigley...

I am a lifelong Blues fan, so I know a bit about having the rug pulled out from beneath...

Good news...we're not in Saskatoon.

You had to endure the Bartman...we had Bobby Gassoff dying from a motorcycle accident on Garry Unger's farm, and Wickenheiser blowing out a knee while on a team snipe hunt...

Mister Magoo League has 10 spots left. I will write a doctor's order for you to bring your seeing eye dog...

It has been. But beating the Birds in the playoffs last year was pretty sweet.  I expect that 0-fer to be done in the next five years or so.

Ah, the Note. Still the only NHL game I've ever been to was Blues-Oilers in STL in 1999 or so. Chris Pronger and Al MacInnis were anchoring the defense in those days.

Still need five sets of keepers. Let's go, boys.

Eternal optimism. Many a Small Bear fan have taken that to the grave...

Pronger and Hull didn't always get along. Once during a practice, Hull shot a puck that whizzed past Pronger's ear, then Prongs had to be restrained...Hull wasn't on the ice with him again during practice for the balance of the season. I'm guessing he feared for his life...

Poor Doug Wickenheiser. He never became the player the habs thought he would be when they took him first over all.As a long time habs fan I remember being a teenager during his first couple of seasons with the habs and being frustrated watching him not be ........that guy. And then of course there was that other guy most of the fan base wanted to be chosen, what was his name.....oh yeah Denis Savard, I guess he had an ok career. What if. Anyway I guess the 'Wick" made an impression in St. Louis as there is a charitable foundation in his memory and maybe a sports cup or two named in his honor. He was only 37 when he died of cancer.

True, but the Cubs have never had ownership willing to take the long view and actually build up their minor league system into one of the best of the game.  Until now.  That's the difference between having an occasional good season and being a franchise that's consistently competitive, as you Cardinal fans well know.

Just need one more set of keepers.
