"To name two of the least controversial (there are others that in my opinion should also be implemented): (1) a "dead period" at the start of the second session; (2) the way the top 10 considering schools are listed on a recruit's page -- my recollection is that even you agree with these."

Thank you for making my point with your two examples. Neither of those suggestions are going to help the game at large, and the first one will actively damage it. I am certain WIS has read both of those suggestions and know better than to implement either one. Get beyond the entitlement and the notion that every user suggestion is automatically a good one, especially if it comes from a so-called veteran. They aren't.

I know you won't answer any of these questions, because that's how the troll eats, but here goes nothing:

1. Can you name any user, besides yourself, who is anti either of these? If I'm entitled, then so is everyone else.

2. The dead period helps coaches who move jobs (and less importantly, those who suffer EEs) -- who does it hurt, and how? What is being actively damaged?

3. The top 10 considering thing is almost certainly an oversight -- and it helps (or hurts) coaches based solely on the vagaries of the alphabet. Again, who is harmed by changing this?

Finally, stop building the strawmen -- no one has said that "every user suggestion is automatically a good one." See the OP in this thread. The hyperbole doesn't help your argument, and makes you look like an *** (not that you need the help).

I'll answer #2(because spud never answers anything).

It hurts every coach who didn't change jobs and everyone who doesn't have EE. It hurts them because it allows the first two groups to get in on the recruiting of players that others have been working on for longer periods of time. But you know this.

The only real question is what's more important? Who it hurts/who it helps.

Question, Who owns the WIS product, specifically to Hoops Dynasty? Is there a product owner for the Dynasty brand (regardless of sport)? Or hows does that work. Who collects user data through interviews, playing the game and observing the end user? I am sure they are not a big team, and engineering sources are limited, but just wondering why all the "WIS doesnt care about us" posts that I keep reading.
3/31/2017 6:30 PM
FOX owns this site.
3/31/2017 6:32 PM
Which is the problem. People around here don't understand how little their $2 a week means to the people who own this site.
3/31/2017 6:35 PM
Mike, I get that, but are there specific users that are admin / employees that make the games better. They obviously just came out with 3.0 - Who was in charge of that? Just wondering how its managed. I'm a product owner in the financial sector for a software company, and I know we would get dumped if we didnt have some sort of representation that was taking on feedback to improve our product.

They have a team. We have no idea if they're dedicated to WifS' product or work under the FOX Sports umbrella which includes countless fantasy games and who knows what else.

None of us have any idea who answers tickets. But most of us believe low level support is terrible.

"...users should try to keep the heat on WIS by any means necessary..."

There's a problem with that thinking, a very serious problem. As a theory it is weak at best. The problem, though, is that in practice around here users "keeping the heat on" are virtually indistinguishable from two-year-olds sitting in their high chair crying loudly and throwing food all over the kitchen. I don't think WIS ignores valid input from users. I don't even think WIS ignores misguided attempts at valid input from users. But that two-year-old, even his mother isn't going to reward his behavior if she's smart.
Spud, I don't know if you have another ID or not but assuming you don't for argument's sake, I see you've only been here for around two years. Having been here for more than a decade i can tell you that from personal experience trying to deal with CS, they really don't care all that much even if it's valid input or not. I can't count the number of times that someone has posted a suggestion they made to CS (good suggestions sent in a very well written ticket) and still got the canned "We'll add it to our list for future consideration" response.

The game definitely took a dramatic turn for the worse when Fox bought the game and Tarek was fired. WIS was Tarek's baby and he could be very protective of it from time to time but at least HE would listen to suggestions, be active in the forums, and actively work to improve the game. Can't say the same after he sold it to Fox. Worst thing that ever happened to the game, by far, bar none.
Spud uses secret alt IDs for some weird reason. Spud got busted by theWizard when he stupidly answered a question using his alt ID l80r20 and then tried to play dumb and pretend like it never happened. It was hilarious.

He uses the CoachSpud ID purely to troll. It's common forum knowledge. Welcome back.

Ok, fair enough, I just see a lot of ideas thrown around on a daily basis and i think it would be valuable to capture them and try to validate them in beta land, even if they fail. And I feel like communication would be key to ensure to keep old users and gain others. This is a paying product and it seems like many are very interested in making it better so I just don't understand how they wouldn't put users in charge of gathering data and testing out functionality that can be easily tweeked.. maybe even scouring user engineers they would hire for peanuts that would just want to improve the product in beta ... most would offer their time for free lol.

When seble was in charge of HD on several occasions he indicated he was working on other fantasy games that fall under the FOX Sports Interactive Media umbrella (I.e., fantasy baseball, fantasy football). Sometimes for very long periods of time. So I don't think any of these admin guys are 100% dedicated to HD

To further Mike's point, when Fox bought WIS, the purchase was so important to the company it wasn't even mentioned in their 10Q SEC filing ... this is very low priority for FOX.
3/31/2017 6:58 PM
I just think with little effort (operationally) they could turn this into a small cash cow .It would be interesting to see the metrics behind it all.

johnsensing, you are right that I won't answer those particular Devil's Advocate questions, because I try to stick to genuine and honest conversation, and because you already reinforced my points with your examples. I appreciate your attempts to double down on the provocation, but it won't work. As for your first two questions, mike covered it sort of. As for your third question, I notice that it is a straw man of your own, as you're the only one suggesting it would hurt or harm anyone. I, for example, consider addressing it secondary to much more important uses of their limited resources, as the current situation is entirely harmless..

And without specifically addressing Bevis' background noise, let's just say that he is less than 50% correct. As he so often is.
