I am glad to have prompted so much chatter with my pick. Sorry I did not stay in the proper order picking the player at the place they always get picked. Someone should have told me there is an order to be followed - it would have saved me some time. Plus I can see how always picking players at a certain spot takes a lot of the guesswork out of the equation for the other owners - sorry about that.

But I tend to agree with Jhsukow. I am willing to bet that not every team picking prior to mine will have a better record than me.
Oh man, yeah ADP is not the sole guideline of who is good. There are people that get drafted in places I disagree with every time. It is a good barometer for seeing where someone else might be available in case you can wait (may have been able to here) or trade up/down.

McHale can be awesome when paired with the right people and there is no reason to think you won't figure out a way to make it happen at this early point in the draft. I think it is just a value judgement people are making.

I knew taking KAJ at #6 would give Ben Howard at #7.

Reguardless of how you rank them, I’m more afraid of how Ben could build a team around KAJ than I am Howard. (Not much, but a little)

I'd rather have Howard due to the availability to play him at both PF and C.

yeah I think the things that KAJ does better (passing, scoring zone balance) than Dwight are easier to find at other positions plus Dwight is a little more affordable

Is it an opinion that makes it a bad pick, or prior historical data?
Im not ready to say it was a bad pick. Hard to make a bad pick in the first round. Picks don't become bad until they have the wrong teammates
I'm ready to say it. I thought he was 99% SF for at least 1 of his better seasons. Turns out not. His best season is 9.2mill, which is a LOT of money in the ODL and you get 24 usage and creb of 26 at PF. ugh. There's just nothing to like. I guess you could go with the 87-88 season where he's 98% elig at SF with creb of 27 and efg over 60%. But for a 1st round pick I don't get it. I've never been a fan in the sim, so I may be biased. Plus if you're targeting a SF (deepest position) with your first pick his name should be Larry, Kevin or Dennis.
Kevin McHale's first name is Kevin.

sorry, i'm not that funny

i like the cut of your jib, midzim. rebounding, passing and threes could be a real struggle, but i understand what you're trying to do.

No, I like what you did there.

I have missed the last three ODL's and am getting caught up on what I've missed. One thing has become clear to me, during my time away, there has been WAY wilder stuff than McHale in the first round,
10/11/2018 3:37 PM
What I am getting out of this is that I would be okay taking Dennis Awtrey with my first round pick and playing him at SF.

Larry Micheaux is pretty good

no love for mchale?

mailman was the obvious pick but im guessing midzim just didnt feel like using him...after that its not crazy to go after mchale at all

24usg 60efg 90d....thats impossible to find outside of the 1st round...hes worth it

yea the boards suck but thats why he usually last until the 2nd....its not hard to find cheap low usg rebounding at the 3 and 5...you can also pair him with rodman/jordan/gobert/wallace/whiteside at the 1/2 turn and really get off to nice start...midge has been killin it in the 52 doing that

i doubt midzim gets mchale in the 2nd so if he really wanted him, he had to pull the trigger at 16...i like it

now marques in the 2nd? booooooooo you gotta roll the dice and hope he falls to the 3rd...he most likely will...theres so many good players you passed on....i hate it

10/11/2018 6:29 PM
i thought gilmore was waaaay worse...not a big fan of artis..especially in the odl

wilt should always be #1....dont be scared

1st Round

Biggest Steals:
1) Karl Malone
2) Magic Johnson
3) David Robinson

Biggest Reaches:
1) Kevin McHale
2) Artis Gilmore
3) Hassan Whiteside

By the numbers Whiteside is a slight reach. That being said, the Gobert-Whiteside combo has been all over the open leagues and it will be awesome to see a great owner like dh try and run in it a draft league.
i dont play open leagues but im guessing lebron and curry are the backcourt with whiteside/gobert? probably 92-93 rodman at sf

ill be following that blueprint...finding my lebron/curry will be the key...i know i can always get **** in the 5th...but im hoping for better

whiteside at 23 a reach? dont sleep on 16-17...22usg 55efg 12/33reb 74d 31 mpg 7.2 mil

It's refreshing to make another celebrated pick! I am now re-energized and looking forward to round 3!!

I personally don't think it is a reach in terms of my personal valuations. I prefer Gobert and I won an ODL with picking him near the top of the 2nd... but I think Whiteside is like 98.9% as good as Gobert, and you got them both. I just mean't a reach in terms of where he was selected versus where he usually goes.

If you get enough threes, that frontcourt is going to kill everyone.

I do very much prefer the 15-16 version though.
