No, taxation is necessary to fund vital aspects of a country. Socialism is immoral and thievery. There is a distinct difference.

If 3 people are in a room and one person has $10 while the other 2 have $2, they can't vote to take the $10 from the guy and distribute it evenly. That's theft despite the fact that it's what the majority wanted.

It doesn't matter whether the guy inherited his $10 or worked for it, the other people still don't have the right to take it.

If the other two people are Congress and the President, they can tax it and it isn’t theft.

We all agree that taxation is necessary. There is no morally correct percentage. There are optimal percentages for whatever the policy goal is, but there is nothing morally wrong with marginal rate X compared to marginal rate Y.

Even if it's the government, it is still theft. We have examples all through history of governments stealing from its populace by means of taxation.

I don't bring it up like others on here, but you suggested a 99% tax bracket. To any rational person, that is theft.
