I didn't see pstuts' Grant Jackson pick, as a result of this pick he moved up and picked Garry Maddux with the very next pick. Sorry about that, I have three 70's draft going on at once and many of the same players are being selected across the leagues.

I will pick shortly.

When John Montefusco came up to the majors, he was a cocky hard throwing pitcher. The Giants went on an extended road trip with one of the first stops in Cincinnati. Montefusco announced to the press that he was going to strike out Johnny Bench three times in the game that he was going to start. In Bench’s first at bat, he launched a screaming line drive into the score board for an easy home run. Montefusco was knocked out of his start early in the game.
.
When Montefusco returned to San Francisco after the lengthy road trip, he had mail waiting for him from the grounds crew from Riverfront Stadium. Montefusco opened the letter, enclosed was a bill for the damage that Bench’s line drive rendered to the scoreboard. A funny and humbling welcome to the majors.

In high school, we were playing our last game my freshman year and coach gives the last start to a hard working Sophmore. We play against a team that was ranked in the state and had a kid that was eventually picked in the 5th round by the Stl Cards.
My teammate held his own the 1st time through the lineup, but the wheels came off in the 4th. Stud Cards kid hits a 400+ft bomb in his 2nd AB of the 4th, and coach mercifully pulls the pitcher.
Fast Forward to our first team meeting in February the following season. Coach is the last person in the room. Closes the door and pulls this beat up baseball out of his pocket. He puts it on the desk in front of the classroom. He makes sure everyone sees it and someone asks
"Coach, what is that?" Coach looks down at the ball and says, "I'm sitting at the table eating my Christmas dinner, and this ball crashes through my living room window and lands next to my tree." We look at each other, kind of laughing, mostly uncomfortable, and he looks at our now Junior pitcher and asks, " Do you know where that came from?" "No" the kid obviously says. "That's the home run you gave up in the last game. It re-entered orbit and ruined my window."
