I am going to get crushed, but I want to represent my school, so here's my team:
Cornell University (15), Ithaca College (5), and Bucknell University (24)
We would do better in hockey, but it is what it is. With Christy Mathewson and Billy Rhines from Bucknell, we can pitch anyway.
One question: why no AAA?? There are loads of players listed from all schools who didn't get to the majors, and it would be nice to include them. Cornell's best player ever was probably Frank Olin, who played in 1884-85 while he was still in college. He hit .312 in 1884, but didn't qualify in '85, so he turned in his glove and made his fortune as an engineer, ultimately donating enough money to build the engineering building on campus, Olin Hall.
I'd love to use him as an AAA player, plus I need some PA at 2B. My offense sucks!
why no AAA? Being only a year here, I am not understanding fully what you are saying. I thought AAA players were real players already in the DB.
Your three schools total 44 players. If you can swing a team with that great, but I have no problem if you add another school. Seems like 75 players are needed to choose from at least.
I've added Syracuse University, which had 29 players, getting my pool up to 73. Strong pitching, anemic offense. The squad:
Cornell: OF Joe Birmingham, OF Joe Gallagher, SS Phil Lewis, P John Milligan, P Ole Olsen, 1B Harry Taylor
Ithaca College: P Glen Cook, OF Tim Locastro, C Earl Williams
Syracuse: OF Eddie Brown, OF Lou Bruce, C Dutch Dotterer, P Dave Giusti, P Doc Scanlan
Bucknell: OF-3B Bert Daniels, SS Mickey Doolan, 1B Dick Kauffman, P Christy Mathewson, OF Moose McCormick, P Jake Northrop, P Billy Rhines, 3B Harvey Smith, 2B Tom Upton, P Bucky Veil, P Weldon Wyckoff
