It's been quiet around here ...

Well, we've entered the final 1/6 of the season, so it's coming down to the wire in the race for the crown. It's feeling like a 3-way race at this point with 2 other teams within a strong playoff surge of threatening. Postseason success will likely determine our winner, and we all know how that doesn't always go according to plan.

I continue to hover in the middle, thanks largely to having one really good team, one really bad team, and three teams around .500 (at this writing they're all 69-68). I remind myself that just being in the top 24 here is a great achievement and having an outside crack at a top 10 finish is nothing to sneeze at. If only I hadn't completely blown the Noah's Ark theme, alas. The 5th 162 was my best overall yet, so it's something to build on. A couple teams are within playoff range, and it might be nice to have more than one get through ...

A tale of two days. Yesterday, my six teams went 5-13, including 0-6 yesterday evening. In fact, despite the fact that 9 of my 13 active teams are over .500, I went 1-12 overall in the pm2 session... the worst session I can remember.

Today, I woke up to a 6-0 session and only a 5-run ninth inning to blow a game this afternoon prevented me from being 12-0 today.

Huge emotional swings.

And right on queue, we go 1-5 in the pm2 session and overall, my 13 teams go 3-10.

Well damn... A few weeks ago, I had three teams squarely in the playoffs with a couple of others just outside looking in. Since then...

60M: 83-50 is now 86-60 (3-10) with a slim 3 game lead from being out of the playoffs

90M: 63-45 is now 81-65 (18-20) in a 3-way tie for the division lead and wildcard (yep, 3 best teams in the same division)

100M: 61-55 is now 70-76 (9-21) and when from a few games out of a playoff spot to being done

120M: Ironically, this was my worst team all season, but has been hot lately to get to 71-75 (but still has no shot at playoffs)

160M: 69-53 is now 79-67 (10-14), we lost a decent division lead and are now only 3 games from missing the playoffs as a wildcard.

255M: 63-60 went on a 2-10 run before rebounding with an 8-3 run. The 2-10 doomed me though... At 73-73, there is not enough time to make up ground.

We weren't winning this Championship with just 3 playoff teams anyway, but my God, if we end up with 0 or 1 playoff teams... what a choke job.

After 11-1 first two sessions of this sixth 162-game split, we've since gone 26-34.

Wild finish. I was content with a strong second round and 3 playoff teams. But then,

• My $120m box team won 7 of its last 8 to end up 81-81
• My draft team, who I assumed would be terrible going into the season, won 16 of its final 24 to end up 82-80

Both records were enough to take the division by a single game. Plenty of luck involved in winning 2 divisions with those records, but I'll take it.

My $60M team won 99 games which is tied for most wins in all leagues. Pretty funny considering I tried to emulate mjkrunner's $60M squad from the last WIS tourney as much as I could. I have to give my props to him for that.

My final results...

60M: 91-71, .562 (.544 exp win%)
Went 3-9 over the last 12 games, including 5 straight losses to end the season, losing out of the playoffs by 1 game.

90M: 88-74, .543 (.566 exp win%)
Went 2-10 near the end of the season, but went 5-3 over the last 8 games to win the wildcard by 1 game.

100M: 77-85, .475 (.513 exp win%)
Was 47-44 thru 91 games, 3 games out of the playoffs. Went 30-41 after that and never really challenged after a late 3-14 collapse.

120M: 81-81, .500 (.520 exp win%)
Was my worst team, then went 26-11 to make it to .500. Was in the wrong division as the AL Central winner went 81-81.

160M: 87-75, .537 (.586 exp win%)
Almost choked away this playoff spot with a 7-15 run before sweeping my last series to win the wildcard spot by 3 games. My .586 exp win% was the best in the entire league.

255M: 85-77, .525 (.528 exp win%)
This team was never really a threat. They won 9 in a row late to make it look close, but missed the playoffs by 3 games. This is another league with a 82-win division winner.

Overall: All six teams had an Exp Win% over .500, and five of six had a worse actual win % than exp win%. The team with the most wins (91) didn't make the playoffs.

My only playoff team was in the draft league, where I wound up with the best record even. So of course we flamed out of the postseason with a 2-4, 2-1, 0-1, 0-3 showing. Though showing is certainly not what my offense did.

Pretty disappointing way to go out.

good series red, you were unlucky to run into a rested 1995 Maddux, he's tough to beat in a five game series when he would have started three of the games.

deeper roster draft league also allowed me to go with bullpen games when Maddux wasn't starting, don't think I've ever done that before

I was preparing to start my partial Doug Fister if it got to Game 5.
