Re: $140M Theme that becomes $80M Theme in Round 2.

The $140M includes a DH. Will the 80M as well?

Nope. It says: "Round 2 will have no DH."

100M Question:

Just to be clear on the use of split seasons, here's an example. Say I wanted to use Aroldis Chapman in 2016, he has two versions in the database attributed to the Yankees: a 58 IP version and a 31 IP version. Are both versions eligible to be used?

Yes. If the 2016 Yankees are your historical team, then you can use any partial, full or combined season with the Yankees. If he’s a twist, then his team doesn’t matter.

From Aaron to Zwilling, Part I

Build your team using players whose last names all start with a different letter. In Round 2, you will build an $80M roster using the same 25 players.

Will be really interested when the strategies thread come out to hear how people who expect to make Round 2 treated this here. Wrestling with the idea of how much I want to think about it (since I expect many people to run circles around me) and just have fun with my Round 1 team.

Agreed. The best I have ever done in WIS is about 80th of 120 in 2021 so I don't have high hopes for 2nd round but one does have to keep it in mind. Heck, maybe I will enter my $80m team into an Open League just to see how it does.

Good news and bad news for me.

Good news: Got my rosters done and I didn't even have to rush.

Which brings me to the bad news: I slipped a couple discs in my back and I've been laid up for a few weeks, thus the reason I had time to do them all.
That's a ton of work. My wife will be thrilled to know I finally go it wrapped up. Thank goodness for non-stop NBA playoffs on TV, a nice warm background glow.

I don’t see where you ever signed up to participate. Please do that.

140M question:
Do we need to use the same park for both teams?

No but the same limitation will hold that it must be a park one of your players called home.

Well, I've got a roster together now that works for both caps fairly well. Took a little bit of thought, but made it happen

Now got to decide whether it makes sense to actually use it

I was involved in forming, critiquing and approving the themes……and I still miss things a few times.

For instance, I just finished my 110m roster, congratulated myself on the back, and then, when rereading the rules for the umpteenth time, finally noticed the 20m minimum per combintion rule. So a few minutes of cursing at the theme creators….and back to the drawing board.

I strongly encourage everyone to read the rules a few times before building your team and then a couple of times after.
And, if it helps, here are my picks for things that don’t get noticed at first glance:

70m - Clones are allowed. They are not mandatory, likely not an advantage, but are allowed. So if you take the Tigers and want to use Ty Cobb for your 1906-1910, 1911-1915, 1916-1920, 1921-1925, and 1926-1930 player, go ahead.

80m - Ballparks are limited to ones with +2 homers to both fields. Simple enough, but don’t forget almost all of these type of parks have positive park factors and many are extremely offensive. Now, I know most of these owners are much smarter than me at getting the most out of a limited pitching staff at low caps. I’m just saying be careful - no one can hide their pitching staff in Petco.

100m - This one demands many rereads and some experimentation with different teams and I’ve given some pointers on this previously. But, for here, I will remind everyone to remember the ballpark rule - i.e, you have to play in the home park of your chosen team so if you’re building a great twist team based on the powerhouse 2025 Rockies, don’t forget you’re putting that pitching staff in Coors.

110m - Stupid f#%!#ng 20m minimum per
combination rule….Enough said…..these theme creators are sadists……..Oh and there’s a DH (I forgot this one too)

125m - Again - don’t forget the ballpark rule - everyone will be playing in a fairly neutral stadium whatever that means for building.

140m - DH for the 140 round 1 squad - No DH for your Round 2 80m roster. And, fyi, evidently redcped says I can’t use both Albert Pujols and Jack Pfeister even though the P is silent in the latter. Like I said, sadists!

Another pro tip for the 110 league. Don't save the last column for the earliest era.
