Game 124: Willie Blair is in the middle of Montreal's two-run rally in the third, but the offense doesn't do much else while Blair is on the mound and Philly's Juan Gonzalez ties the score in the seventh with a solo homer. Rick Aguilera takes over and gets through the seventh while Bob Wickman pitches a scoreless eighth. Montreal rallies to tie the score in the next frame but Robb Nen allows a two-run homer to Tony Gwynn in the ninth and suffers his second loss of the season.

Game 141: Edgardo Alfonzo's sixth inning error, his 38th miscue of the season, opens the door to a 4-run inning for the Niners. Frisco adds two more in the seventh and the Spectres can't make it back, getting only a three-run homer from Eddie Taubensee as they fail to complete the sweep.

With the magic number down to four, the Spectres head to St. Louis to face the Central leading Blue Storm.
2/4/2009 7:25 AM
Game 142: St. Louis jumps on Chuck Finley early, scoring nine runs in the first three innings, and a rout is on. A "too-little, too-late" rally by the Spectres includes a ninth-inning grand slam by Ken Caminiti, but the Blue Storm is never seriously challenged in the 11-7 decision.

Game 143: Carlos Delgado doubles, homers, and drives home six to back Dave Burba, who helps himself out with a triple and three RBI; Burba picks up his 16th win as the Spectres beat St. Louis 13-3 and clinch a tie for the division title.

Ken Caminiti hits two homers and drives in six for the Spectres.

Game 149: It's another slugfest in Milwaukee as the teams combine for nine home runs and 24 runs scored. Rusty Greer and Al Martin each hit two homers for the Krauts, but the Spectres rally for five runs in the ninth to take a 14-10 decision. Bob Wickman gets the win, his ninth of the season. Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 52nd home run and Carlos Delgado his 40th.
