#2 SF, #8 Overall, *****;
no promises. I was expecting more of a fight from Georgetown when I went after Ernest Bold. I had forgotten to recruit for the first two cycles and I had meant to go after Bold all along, and Georgetown was alone in his considering list. Since I had two players go pro early on me, I knew I had equal funding to Georgetown, equal distance, and a slight edge in prestige (my A+ to his A-). The Hoyas had gotten into a few recruiting battles, though, and were tied up in a way that I wasn't yet, so I took the lead quickly and he never took it back. Eventually I put a few extra dollars in just to kick him off to have Bold sign right away, which worked.
Anyways, Bold is exactly the kind of SF I described at the beginning of the year as being worth recruiting. I firmly believe that there are only about five of these per year, and when they are geographically close to you, you have to act on it. He'll never be a speed demon, but he should be fast enough to keep up with most opponents. He'll never be a great rebounder either, but he shouldn't be an embarassment there. What he should be, ultimately, is a good scoring SF. It helps that he played in our system in high school, too.
