Well, I'm not really sure about this deal. I really like Kesler and he plays a fantastic two way game, but when did 20 goals and 60 points for 5 million a season become a great deal? I think Alex Burrows is the same calibre of player Kesler is and he got a 4 year deal worth 2 million per. Something doesn't add up there.

To be clear, I'm not necessarily saying Kesler didn't deserve this kind of deal if you look at solely him, but this deal throws the salary structure of this team completely out of whack in my opinion because it's too close to what the Sedins make and too far from what Burrows makes, all of which are fairly recent deals.
You answered your own questions? 66 points in 71 games worth 5 mill? Maybe not. Selke finalist worth 5 mill? Maybe not. Put them together and you got yourself a wonderful deal. Burrows was signed to a bargain deal and is underpaid. Also, you can't build a line around Burrows like Kesler. Burrows is a complimentary scorer and and a defensive specialist.

If you spent that 5 mill on another player as a free agent next season. Believe me, you would not like the trade off.

Besides, if you're a Blackhawk fan, shouldn't you be visiting someone in the hospital or something

Fair enough. It's your team guys. I was just asking the question as to why Kesler is worth more than double what Burrows is worth, who by the way is in the top 5 of goal scoring in the entire league in the last calendar year. Call him whatever you want, but I believe Burrows is worth at least just below what Kesler is, if not the same. But that's just my opinion. They're both very effective players in their own right.

Wasnt Burrows signed before he broke out like a banshee?

Probably right around the same time he started playing with the Sedins last season...maybe in February or March? But I'm not sure exactly when the contract was finalized.

Kesler over a floater like Cammaleri 99/100 times..Kesler is a good leader, faceoff man will score a point a game, check the opposition's top centre..well worth the money

I never heard about the signing until reading it here. Great news for Canuck fans.

Well dilemma answered... Go Red Wings.. as much as Vancouver would help us with a win... I would rather not make the playoffs then ever have to actually cheer for the Canucks

thats good because we dont want you cheering for the Canucks..We get a tired team but Detroit is desperate and has a pretty good record playing in Vancouver.

I want Vancity to win but a loss and a dagger to the Flames is at least a consolation..nothing like the 2nd place team in the conference missing the playoffs.. haha

Let's go Canucks! Blues need your help.

Well I will say it, when we had them 2-0 the team NEEDED the captain to step up to the plate.....but the captain let us down. Was weak on all the goals.............On the bright side CAPTAIN LUONGO saved himself a likely embarrassing shoot-out loss against the Wings by letting in the O/T goal with .02 seconds on the clock.

I have not posted lately because I was in the hospital since Thursday, looks like I get to live, but it did scare the crap out of me. I never want to endure a 7 hour ambulance ride again, worse 3 days of my life.
