Looking at the list of hitting subs, I'm fascinated by how the selection of these players is developing. Unlike most of the other hitting positions, where the best player is taken next, the order in which these players are taken is all over the board. Some of the lesser skilled hitters are taken early because they fill a key position and have lots of PA's (relatively speaking).
For example, at the beginning of the draft, who would have guessed that Jeff Keppinger would be the 2nd sub taken? (And it was a smart pick). The Shawn Wooten pick was a sneaky good pick since he has catcher eligibility (232 PA with A+ arm).
I know most people are waiting till the end of the draft for these players, but as we finish these last few rounds, nobody will really be able to predict which sub will be drafted next.
