Have the '84 All-Star game on in the background. The West started English, Dantley and Gervin. Dunno why, but that seems funny to me. Gotta be 40+ 19-ft shots just from those 3 coming...

Three guys who didn't do much other than score. I'd be happy to make a case for English being the most well-rounded of the three, since he had seasons when he rebounded and seasons where he passed the ball a meaningfully helpful amount. Dantley was the most efficient, mainly because he worked closest to the basket despite being the shortest in stature. English and Gervin had prettier games. None of them were long-distance gunners, but then again, the '80s NBA didn't ask them to be that.

So, early but convincing indications are that my best team is actually my worst team. I'm on the verge of shaking my fists at the universe, wondering what is really true and reliable.

Yup to all that, but it was so much redundancy with those 3 on the floor for the same team that it made me chuckle for a sec. Add in Kiki, Bernard, Aguirre and Tripucka from both benches, and that's an insane amount of midrange scoring/ no defense.

AD was reknowned for his big butt...using it to get position on the block. Iceman was a "slasher", while English was the "pure shooter". I think if the 3 line was where it is now, Alex English coulda averaged 40 PPG!

Yep to all that. Alex "Amazing Grace" English was one of my heroes when I was a kid. Aguirre's game was similar to Dantley's, using his ample buttocks to shove his way into position on the blocks.

Scottie for MVP! Very impressed that jp is making it work with him (plus a little TMac) as the alpha dog.
