I admit I took Elgin Baylor as kind of an afterthought. Never planned on playing him many minutes, but damn...dude is contributing MIGHTILY to at least two of my teams! I wouldn't be shocked if others took notice and he was drafted again next savage season!

team rebounding looks like it has a higher correlation to wins than even TS%. and assists looks like it has a negative correlation to wins.

I'm pretty sure that's a facade, or at least too narrow a view to take. Some incredible rebounding teams are doing horrible, and at least one good passing team is doing extremely well. Three of the top five are dominating on the boards, yes, but they are also dominating in other areas (turnovers, for example). The guy who is #1 is not really dominating in any one area but is in the upper ranks (what I call "in the green") of most categories. It's not about (and never has been) picking one area and dominating in it, it's about being really good in many areas.

But you already know that evidenced by a post in the original Savage draft and the consistency of team building you've used since then. It just so happens that if you follow that philosophy, you tend to get lots of boards in the process, as the sim does indeed value boards at a very high rate.

yea, I can't imagine rebounding is more importing than shooting efficiency. But I wasn't running any numbers. I was just sorting by wins and then looking at colors. At quick glance there seemed to be more green at the top and red at the bottom of the team rebounding column. And for the assists column there seemed to be more red at top and green at bottom. what I thought was interesting was that there was visually more green at the top of the rebounding column than there was at the top of the TS% column. didn't expect to see that.

the recent collapse on my part not withstanding, pex, you've never been shy about getting lots of boards. in any league it's a mix of everything. some amount of inefficiency can be stomached in this league, but it likely has to be coupled with low usage, boards, assistst, volume 3s and/or defense. The Connie pick was a less offensive attempt on this front, but it hasn't totally worked out. Of course I immediately coupled him with Collins.

robusk (much as I hate to admit it) has always maintained that there isn't enough of a benefit of getting assists beyond the floor. The numbers seem to still agree with that philosophy. I have experienced a difference between 52 and 57, much as I've heard it's a step function, but no team I've had has experienced any notable jump in efficiency upwards of 65. I think it's because turnovers usually accompany assists, and a possession the forfeit of a possession. Rebounds with low turnovers, high boards and acceptable efficiency is always apt. (scorching hot take section: There are some guys (like Elgin or Westbrook) who can defy their inefficiency by making large contributions on rebounds for their positions, and high usage/low efficiency guys can be useful in this league with the right low usage/high efficiency guys around them and 3s. Just as a real usage whale like Harden can lift low usage defenders to a respectable offense, so too can a fake whale like Westbrook lift low usage defenders to a respectable rebounding margin, at the very least. Or DeMarcus Cousins, or someone like that. Embiid is the best of these, at least for now. anyway. It's kind of like a reverse Trojan horse, where the real players reveal the Trojan horse within, at least for as long as needed)

ok, I ran the numbers. up to this point... TS% has 0.01 (almost none) correlation to wins. rebounding has 0.71 (pretty high) correlation to wins. assists has -0.17 (slightly negative) correlation to wins. there you have it folks. assists hurt you, TS% doesn't matter. and rebounds get wins. LOL

I still say that all you need to draft is grit, determination, and hustle. None of the other stuff matters.

and opponent TS% has a 0.64 (also pretty high) correlation to wins. so it also helps to play opponents who can't shoot. lol. or maybe another way to look at it is defense matters. rebounding and defense have the two highest correlation coefficients to wins.
