Again, I'm not defending his actions, but I'd be willing to bet you did some pretty stupid things when you were 25, that you regret now. I know I did. I don't know about you, but I am nowhere near the same person I was when I was 25.
We hold people accountable for things they do as adults (and sometimes as children). Sometimes it makes no sense. This isn't one of those times.
of course you are right.
intellectualizing excuses is absurd....he was a me doctor for god's sakes.
only a racist could find humor in what he did...think about it in those terms y'all.

you say he had a relationship.....an acquaintanceship more precise.
Semantics. They looked chummy. Doesn’t fit your narrative so you’re playing coy.
that is absurd...i call them as i see them.....this gov for example.
I am going to take the high road. KO. Next topic please.

I dressed as Len Bias for Halloween when I was 21. In 2005.

Didn't once think about putting on blackface.

This is usually one of the good things about democrats, and definitely their superior to modern republicans: let the idiot go.

Topic of the day: Obesity epidemic in America. What do we do about it?

My personal take is that we do nothing. If people want to be fat, that is their right. The government has no place in compelling people to be healthy. It is not the government's job to protect people from their own stupidity. These laws, such as NY's law limiting the amount of soda one can have is absolutely asinine and unconstitutional. People know which foods are healthier. Our population knows that skinless grilled chicken is better for you than fried chicken and that broccoli and spinach is better for you than processed fast food or doritos. People should have the right to choose the unhealthy option.

I agree, with one addition - any health problems people have solely because of their excess weight should NOT be covered by any health insurance.
People are free to be fat, but should NOT then expect others to help pay for their issues.
I feel exactly the same about smoking, alcohol, et al. If the health problem is self-induced by choices, it should NOT become anyone's responsibility other than the person who made those choices. That's a "win" for those who want to make bad choices, and a "win" for those who don't want to be responsible for other's bad choices.

I agree that the government can't force people to eat whatever they want, however food companies should be extremwly transparent about what they are putting in food, and it sucks that there isn't much of a financial incentive to buy local.
2/5/2019 9:00 AM
Food companies already are transparent about what is in their food. I eat very, very healthy. I know exactly what I am putting in my body when I prepare a meal. That is my point. There is no excuse for being fat other than a lack of self-discipline.
2/5/2019 9:03 AM
People aren't fat because of anything that food companies are doing. They are fat because of their own choices. Start paying attention at the grocery store. Notice the carts of fat people and the carts of healthier looking people. Fat people are going to have sodas and processed foods. Healthier looking people are going to have fruits and vegetables.

The only time that I believe the government should have a say in what is purchased is if the food is being purchased with EBT or WIC. I think those funds should be limited to healthy foods.

Excuse me? I am not the one who said I was going to commit suicide. You need psychiatric help.

I equate this to auto insurance. If I am a safe driver, live in a safe area, I have 20+ years of experience and drive a modest car my premium is lower than someone who drives a brand new car, has several accidents and speeding tickets, five years of experience and lives in the city. Auto insurance companies adjust and I think health insurance companies should as well. I should pay less than someone with health issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure because they are obese. An obese child in a poor area costs the Gov't ~$400k for the life of that person. Generally bad food costs less than good food so the poorer people tend to be fatter, which causes them to have health issues and costs us $$$. While I agree the Gov't should not interfere in people's eating habits I think health insurance should be adjusted. It does not seem right that the "healthy" pay for the "unhealthy" because the "unhealthy" choose to eat poorly.

My 2 cents.

Healthy food does not cost more. That's a myth.

It does. A bag of chips and a soda you can get for like $2. Try to make a salad for that. I did a whole study on that during a work program I was in. The numbers were mind boggling.
2/5/2019 9:25 AM
Nope. Put me together a full days menu eating like a normal person and I will put you together a menu of all healthy food for cheaper.

Maybe in Atlanta. Not all of us live in a huge city. Where I live, healthir food is pricey.
