Game 118: The Rider offense continues to produce but the bullpen fails; Rod Carew drives in four runs to lead the Angels to a 9-7 victory. Ron Reed takes the loss, dropping his record to 4-6.
Game 119: Milwaukee breaks out with four runs in the fourth and holds on for a 6-4 win. Rich Gossage gets his 22nd save.
Game 120: Milwaukee and Anaheim go to extras; the Riders leave the bases loaded in both the 10th and 11th innings, then allow an unearned run in the 13th. Mike Garman, however, cannot hold the lead. He allows a single to Jerry Mumphrey, the first batter he faces, then follows up by allowing a two-run homer by Thurman Munson to give Milwaukee a 5-4 win.
As nice as it is to take a series from the division leaders, the Riders are still aggresively mediocre at 60-60 and head to LA to face the Hilltoppers.
