Game 115: John Montefusco is backsliding; he gets pounded again and the Mammoths roll to a 9-2 win behind Vida Blue. Montefusco falls to 4-7 as a Rider. Mike Ivie hits his first double of the season for Milwaukee.

Game 116: Milwaukee repays the favor, scoring nine runs on 15 hits, their best offensive output in two weeks, and beat the Mammoths 9-3. Lary Sorensen gets back to .500 at 11-11.

Game 117: Milwaukee scores nine runs for the second straight game and beats the Mammoths 9-5 in the series finale; Jon Matlack evens HIS record at 11-11.

The Riders begin the next round of divisional play with a home series against division leader Anaheim.

Game 118: The Rider offense continues to produce but the bullpen fails; Rod Carew drives in four runs to lead the Angels to a 9-7 victory. Ron Reed takes the loss, dropping his record to 4-6.

Game 119: Milwaukee breaks out with four runs in the fourth and holds on for a 6-4 win. Rich Gossage gets his 22nd save.

Game 120: Milwaukee and Anaheim go to extras; the Riders leave the bases loaded in both the 10th and 11th innings, then allow an unearned run in the 13th. Mike Garman, however, cannot hold the lead. He allows a single to Jerry Mumphrey, the first batter he faces, then follows up by allowing a two-run homer by Thurman Munson to give Milwaukee a 5-4 win.

As nice as it is to take a series from the division leaders, the Riders are still aggresively mediocre at 60-60 and head to LA to face the Hilltoppers.

Game 121: The Riders and Hilltoppers trade leads for 10 innings before Milwaukee breaks free in the 11th, scoring three times and holding on for an 8-5 win.

Game 122: Bill Madlock and Larry Hisle combine for seven RBI and the Riders win, 10-5, helping Tommy John to his 16th victory.

Game 123: LA strings together three straight crooked innings and avoids a sweep, beating the Riders 9-5.

Milwaukee will finish this divisional stretch with a home series against Minnesota.

Game 124: Tom Dixon and two Moosehead relievers combine to 3-hit the Riders, winning a nail-biter, 2-0.

Game 125: Bill Madlock drives in three and Frank Taveras scores three as the Riders even the series with a 7-2 win. Jon Matlack gets his 12th win.

Game 126: Milwaukee hits two home runs but gets no other runs across the plate; Minnesota wins the decisive game of the series, 6-3.

Still mired at .500, the Riders prepare to host Montreal.

Game 127: Len Randle and Hal McRae score three runs each to help John Montefusco beat his old team, 15-3, at County Stadium.

Game 128: This seesaw battle goes 14 innings before the Lynchers finally win 12-11. The teams combine for eight runs in the eighth and ninth innings and both score twice in the 12th. Rich Gossage suffers his 13th blown save.

Game 129: Clint Hurdle homers to lead off the ninth for Montreal and the Lynchers come out with another one run victory, 7-6 over the Riders.

Montreal heads to Fenway to face the Red Legs.

Game 130: Wayne Nordhagen has five hits, Frank Taveras four, and the Riders collect 22 in all to take the opener at Fenway, 12-5. Tommy John gets his 17th win.

Game 131: Hal McRae homers off Sparky Lyle in the ninth to tie the game at four, but John Montefusco, sent out to pitch the ninth, gives up a leadoff homer to Jim Spencer to give the Red Legs a 5-4 win.

Game 132: Richie Hebner hits two homers and the Riders have a second 22-hit game in the series, taking the finale 16-2. Lary Sorensen evens his record at 12-12.

From Boston the Riders head to DC to face the Commandos.

Game 133: Jon Matlack pitches a gem and Rich Gossage throws two scoreless innings to earn his 23rd save in a 2-1 victory.

Game 134: A late rally falls short; Milwaukee strands three runners in the final two innings and drops a 5-4 decision.

Game 135: John Montefusco pitches seven shutout innings and Rich Gossage picks up his second 2-inning save of the series as Milwaukee shuts out the Commandos 3-0.

The Riders head to Atlanta to face Georgia Force.

Game 136: Phil Niekro wins his 22nd game of the season, shutting out the Riders 11-0.

Game 137: Outhit 12-6, the Riders manage to dance out of trouble enough times to squeak out a 4-3 win to even the series. Jon Matlack improves to 14-11 for the Riders.

Game 138: Atlanta takes the series with another lopsided victory, 8-1 over the Riders. Bob Owchinko improves to 21-5.

Milwaukee returns home to host Cincinnati.

Game 139: John Montefusco pitches eight 3-hit innings and the Riders take the opener, 2-1. Montefusco improves to 8-9 in a Rider uniform.

Game 140: Rich Gossage blows another save in the eighth, but the Riders bail him out, stringing together three consecutive one-out singles in the 10th to win 4-3.

Game 141: Milwaukee can't complete the sweep, allowing three in the ninth to break a 2-2 tie and losing 5-2.

The Riders head to Cleveland to face the Saltdogs.

Game 142: Rico Carty hits his 34th home run and leads the Saltdogs to a 7-2 win over Tommy John (17-11).

Game 143: Hal McRae has three hits, including his 30th double, and drives in three to help John Montefusco even his Milwaukee record at 9-9 in a 5-1 win.

Game 144: JR Richard continues his march through the league, striking out 12 Riders in a complete game 4-hit shutout. Cleveland wins 5-0.

Milwaukee will host the Chicago Goats next.

Game 145: Larry Hisle hits two solo home runs but Chicago's Mike Caldwell doesn't allow much else, rolling to his 24th victory of the season, 7-3 over the Riders.

Game 146: Rich Gossage has another nightmarish outing, allowing four runs in the ninth as the Goats rally for an 8-7 victory. It's Gossage's 15th blown save of the season and runs his ERA to 4.99.

Game 147: John Montefusco pitches another good game and wins his 10th game as a Rider as Milwaukee gets by Chicago 6-2 in the series finale.

The Riders will host the New York Mammoths in their final non-divisional series of the season.

Game 148: New York scores four in the seventh to erase a 4-2 deficit and goes on to beat the Riders 7-5.

Game 149: Jerry Mumphrey triples in the bottom of the ninth to drive home Larry Biittner with the winning run as the Riders beat New York 2-1.

Game 150: Larry Hisle hits his 28th home run and Rich Gossage pitches two scoreless innings to pick up his 28th save as the Riders beat New York 8-5, giving Tommy John his 18th victory.

Milwaukee heads to Anaheim to start the final round of divisional play with a .500 record at 75-75.

Game 151: Milwaukee pounds out 18 hits and Rider pitchers strike out 14 Anaheim batters as Milwaukee takes the opener, 10-6.

Game 152: Larry Hisle hits another home run but the Riders are beaten, 3-2, by Rich Gale and two Angel relievers.

Game 153: Jon Matlack works around five walks to record his 15th victory of the season, 4-3 over Anaheim. Hal McRae drives in two runs to reach 80 for the season.

Game 154: Tommy John pitches six strong innings and the Riders give him enough support to earn his 19th win, 5-2 over Anaheim.

The Riders will host Los Angeles next.

Game 155: Jerry Mumphrey's error leads to two unearned runs and the Riders lose 3-2 to the Hilltoppers, scoring only on Hal McRae's two-run homer.

Game 156: Lary Sorensen throws seven shutout innings and the Riders take advantage of a Dave Concepcion error in the eighth to score the game's only run as they beat Don Sutton 1-0.

Game 157: Milwaukee is limited to eight singles as they drop a 6-3 decision to the Hilltoppers.

Game 158: Tommy John's bid for win #20 is foiled by the Hilltoppers, who get a home run from Jason Thompson and a 4-1 win over the Riders.

Milwaukee, sporting a .500 record, heads to Minnesota to close out the season, their reign as division champs long over.

Game 159: Still hoping to finish with a winning record, Milwaukee pounds out 20 hits and wins the opener 13-3, giving John Montefusco his 11th win as a Rider. Hal McRae homers for the Riders.

Game 160: The Mooseheads abuse Lary Sorensen and drop the Riders back to .500 with an 11-8 victory.

Game 161: Jon Matlack makes his last start of the season a good one, allowing only one run in eight innings to win his 16th game as the Riders win their 81st game, 7-2. Wayne Nordhagen homers and drives in three runs.

Game 162: Tommy John comes through, pitching six innings on the final day of the season and allowing only one run as the Riders beat Minnesota 5-2 and finish the season with a winning record. It's John's 20th win of the season.
