why must i race home to make a 7pm selection on the dot?
You don't.
My issue is that if you were picking at the 9pm slot instead of 10pm, you would have been skipped and the draft could have moved on.  Instead, we wait 9+ hours.  Not a big deal or anything... some owners just find it rude.  I'm not one of them.  My issue is more with the way we do drafts than your rudeness.  But I agree with the conclusion we reached 30-some pages ago that it is the best way to do it, so w/e.

Thus I simply said, "Yawn."

i'm having trouble grasping the idea we need to rush - i can't imagine we finish more than 2-3 days earlier if we do - plus, how important are 3 days in a league of this magnitude?  i'm more concerned with a group of quality owners and low turnover
Some people want to fly through the draft and actually get to the league.  I personally have more fun in draft leagues during the draft than the actual league, though in this situation, I'm eager to get ahead.  The bottom line is that many owners feel what you did was rude and that your entire attitude is rude.  I think the latter.  As long as you make your draft slot, I don't normally say ****.  And technically you made your draft slot... I find it fascinating that people get so worked up about this stuff.  The schedule is the schedule, and if you miss your slot, you get skipped, and you're in danger of getting a lesser talent.  If you're lucky enough to get an "end of day" time, you get a grace period ... if you don't, you don't.  We all agree to these rules when the draft starts.  If you're into it enough to follow it closely, you won't ever miss a pick.  If you miss one and get skipped, it's on you.  So there's really no reason to get pi$$ed at anyone for being late ... it just is what it is.

All I care about is that nobody bails in midstream (which would truly suck), and that people put their teams in quickly after the draft ends.  That said, if anyone has a better idea for a draft process, let's hear it.
