How come no one is talking about the Jays miracle .500 season?

I can only speak for myself but I thought MLB closed down Canada.   I'm shocked, shocked I say, to find out that they left a team behind.

If you miss this, you should be bitchslapped.

Evan Longoria became only the second player in MLB history to hit a walk-off home run in his team's final regular season game to put them into the post-season last night.  Who was the first?

Most people don't know this but Bobby Thomson.  It was a 3 game playoff to determine the NL rep.   And the reason most people don't know it is because we assume that MLB has always had playoffs(see WC2 argument in MLB GD where one user felt comparing 1993 to 2010 was wrong).  They haven't.  That didn't start until 1969.  So that three game series was the equivalent of a "play-in" game.

Does your correct answer mean you get to bitchslap tec now?  Is it true that you and tec actually get together and bitchslap each other once a moth?

What does he mean by "once a moth"?

Nope.  Nope.

He's from Jersey Shore.  Pay his lack of English no mind.

Who deserves more of the blame: Theo, Terry, both, or neither?
9/29/2011 2:56 PM
Ultimately it's the players who didn't perform.   But you can't fire all the underperforming players.   So, if Francona put them in the best position to win, you have to blame Theo for bringing in a bunch of turds.    If Francona misused players, I'm not sure why Crawford only had 24 SB attempts, it's on him.

Are you watching the Amazing Race this season? I think there's only two or three teams I don't hate already.

Let's play "What If".

What if the Yankees signed Jose Reyes this offseason?  Where would you play him on the field, who would you move around to accomodate him, and who would then be expendable (i.e. trade bait)?
9/29/2011 5:03 PM
I am.  I don't form opinions that quickly but there doesn't seem to be many likeable people out there.  I thought that one girl was gonna bitchslap the one who lost her passport.    And the country bumpkins aren't long for the show either.

Had Jeter not picked up his game at mid-season, I thought he could be with the Yanks.   And that would have put Jeter at LF/RF/DH with some whacked out rotation with Gardner/Swisher.   If they were to sign him now, I really can't see them moving Jeter so he'd probably play a lot of 3B with A-Roid getting plenty of DH time to rest whatever the hell is going to ail him next year.  Then moving to SS the season after that.
9/29/2011 6:07 PM
Why wouldn't you proactively move Jeter from SS starting next season?  He'll be 38 next June.  Why wait until he totally starts to **** the bed defensively?

(If I were the Yankees, I'd discuss it discretely with him and allow it to appear as Jeter's decision/willingness to move)
9/29/2011 6:23 PM
If Jeter were on board, publicly, I probably would.   But they are the #1 seed, Jeter had a fantastic 2nd half and, if they make the WS, they're not going to upset the apple cart by moving producing players around.   MLB isn't HBD.   Egos, feelings, position comfort, fans, etc, etc, all play a part.

Have you ever thought of petitioning 23Mattingly23 to be renamed 23MikeT23?
