Do you think Girardi pulled Burnett a little too quickly? 

5 2/3 solid innings (other that the shaky first).  Only 81 pitches.  I would have had more confidence in what I saw in Burnett to that point in the game than I would in bringing in Soriano (whose first pitch was smoked by Peralta; thank goodness Grandy made that catch).

No.   It was win or go home so it's all hands on deck.   Burnett has a history of completely blowing up, completely, from one batter to the next.  Girardi should manage the next game the same way.

Would you exercise the team option on a player who is aging and of only average current talent, knowing you could upgrade him with the money saved in free agency, if that player had just hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 9th, down by a run, in Game 6 of last season's World Series to give you the championship?

No.  I brought a guy back so he could finish his career with .300+ average and 400 homers.   But I waited until he reduced his demands to BL minimum and he got minimal playing time while spending most of his last season in AAA.   Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Jamey Cambridge

Had it cost me 2-3m to do that, he'd have finished his career with 399 homers.
