Game 59: Julio Gambetta has another solid start and, while the Spectre bullpen does its usual torch job, the offense collects 19 hits and delivers a 14-8 win over New York.

Game 60: Chuck Finley falls to 1-6 as the Cosmos destroy him on the way to a 9-4 win over Montreal. An exhausted Cosmo bullpen is nonetheless up to the task of holding the Spectre offense down.

Game 61: Montreal's offense stalls again, with Bret Boone's fourth-inning homer providing their only runs, and the Cosmos score a run in the ninth to take the series with a 4-3 win.

The Spectres head to Philly to face the first place Seaphils.

Game 62: Montreal's late comeback falls short as they strand runners on the corners in the eighth, then go 1-2-3 in the ninth, and Philadelphia takes the series opener, 5-4 over Omar Daal.

Game 63: Montreal knocks Denny Neagle out of the box in the fourth but fails to score off the Philly bullpen; the Seaphils put four on the board in the eighth and win 6-2.

Game 64: Bret Boone hits two homers and drives in six runs as the Spectres finally win a game, beating the Seaphils 15-6 to close out the series.

Interleague set with Boston is next.

Game 65: Chuck Finley's nightmarish season continues as he drops a 5-3 decision to the Brawn. Finley is now 1-7 and in danger of losing his spot in the rotation (assuming a suitable replacement can be found).

Game 66: Bret Boone takes the golden sombrero and strands four as Boston's Roger Clemens evens his record at 4-4 with a 6-2 win over the Spectres.

3-7 in their last 10, the Spectres have seen their wild card lead dwindle to three games. Montreal will head to St. Louis to take on the Blue Storm.

Game 67: Tony Phillips homers and Omar Daal pitches eight 4-hit innings as the Spectres beat St. Louis 7-2.

Game 68: Kelvim Escobar pitches six scoreless innings to no account, as the Spectre bullpen blows another lead in the eighth and goes to extras. Neither team scores through the first three extra frames but Geoff Jenkins snaps the tie with a bases-loaded double in the 13th. Monteral adds two more insurance runs and wins 7-3.

Game 69: The Montreal bullpen continues its rare scoreless streak with 2.2 shutout innings in relief of Scott Erickson, who improves to 7-1 with this 3-2 win over the Blue Storm. Ken Griffey Jr. drives in his 80th run of the season.

The Spectres host West division leaders San Diego next.

Game 70: Brady Anderson reaches base five times and Chuck Finley wins his second game of the season in a 9-4 decision over San Diego.

Game 71: Daryl Hamilton has four hits, including his first home run of the season, and four RBI as the Conquistadors even the series with a 10-5 win. Omar Olivares improves to 7-1 on the season.

Game 72: San Diego put a beating on Omar Daal, then piles on against mopup man Felix Rodriguez, rolling to a 22-2 victory to take the series.

LA has now won 14 straight and is only one game back of Montreal in the wild card standings. The Spectres head to Cincinnati.

Game 73: Tony Phlillips and Brady Anderson hit home runs to back Kelvim Escobar, who goes seven innings for the win in a 9-3 victory over Cincy.

Game 74: Tony Phillips homers for the second straight game, but it's Carlos Delgado's two-run blast in the ninth that wins it, breaking a 6-6 tie. Rick Aguilera pitches the ninth for his 18th save.

Game 75: Montreal gets only six hits, but one of them is Carlos Delagdo's bases-loaded double in the third, capping a five-run inning. The Spectres hold on for a 7-5 win. Chuck Finley improves to 3-7.

The Spectres have the 69ers coming to town next. I may have mentioned previously that we hate them.

Game 76: Montreal rallies for five runs in the eighth to steal the series opener, 10-6, from the Niners.

Game 77: Rookie Spectres catcher Ramon Hernandez strands seven runners and Wilson Alvarez outpitches Dave Burba as the Niners even the series with a 6-3 win.

Game 78: Montreal bounces back from yesterday's loss to take another late-inning win over Frisco. A bases-loaded walk to Bret Boone breaks a 2-2 tie in the seventh, and Eddie Taubensee ices things with a two-run homer in the eighth.

Montreal will close the first half at Milwaukee.

Despite the recent hard times, the Spectres place five players on the NL All Star Team: Pitchers Omar Daal and Rick Aguilera, 1B Carlos Delgado, LF Brady Anderson, and CF Ken Griffey Jr. Only Griffey Jr. is a starter.

The Spectres will start the second half of the season at home against Houston.

Game 82: Omar Daal gets the second half off to a good start with eight scoreless innings; Montreal survives a late scare to beat Houston 6-5.

Game 83: Houston scores three in the third inning and the Spectres can never quite catch up, dropping a 5-4 decision; Ken Griffey Jr. is picked off base in the ninth after bringing the Spectres within a run.

Game 84: Montreal rallies late again, scoring five times in the ninth, but falls short in an 8-7 decision. Ken Griffey Jr. blasts a three-run homer but Carlos Delgado grounds to second to end the game.

Interleague sets with Minnesota, Baltimore, and Orange County await.

Game 85: Carlos Delgado drives in four runs and the Spectre bullpen holds Minnesota to a single run over three innings as Montreal takes a 7-3 win.

Game 86: Montreal hits four home runs and destroys the Mallrat bullpen in a 15-5 massacre. Ken Griffey Jr. drives in four runs to run his season total to 95. Chuck Finley gets the win, improving to 5-7.

Game 87: Ken Griffey Jr. homers again, one of three Montreal longballs, and the Spectres beat Baltimore 7-3. Omar Daal gets his 10th win of the season.

Game 88: Montreal does nothing offensively through six, then explodes with four home runs in the seventh and eighth to beat visiting Baltimore 6-2. Bob Wickman gets his first win of the season (retiring one batter).

Game 89: Ken Griffey Jr. drives in his 100th run of the season, but OC's Kevin Brown strikes out 10 and wins his 14th game as the Choppers win at home, 9-4.

Game 90: Mike Hampton outpitches Scott Erickson and the Choppers sweep the Spectres with a 5-3 win at Olympic Stadium.

Montreal heads to Wrigley field to face the Central leading Bootleggers.
