The Boston Bruins are in pursuit of Tomas Kaberle and a top 10 pick in today's draft.

Sources tell TSN the Bruins have offered restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel to Toronto in exchange for the Leaf defenceman and Toronto's No. 7 pick in the draft.

The Leafs are apparently canvassing the league to see if there are any better offers out there.

What do you think Bruins fans?

If that trade is made, the B's could then go sign Kessel to an offer sheet as a RFA on July 1 to get him back or drive the price up for Toronto.

burke won't take that deal if he has a brain in his head

It's the Leafs! They will probably give the Bruins the 2nd round pick too!!

agreed

Well...I don't think the Leaf's moves will be quite as ridiculous now with Burke at the helm as they historically have been.

we can hope

Well, with Ward gone, we suddenly need another d-man, because neither Boychuk or Fata is ready to be an everyday d-man yet. However, by waiving Eaves, they free up enough space to re-sign Kessel, and perhaps find a decent d-man. Zubov is still out there, but he'd probably want a lot more than the B's could afford.

Morris for 3.3M -- that is a surprise.
7/25/2009 8:37 AM
Yeah, it is...now it makes me wonder about Kessel again, because they've got about $1M free under the cap now. Either he's heading out of town, or someone else is to make room for him.

It will be interesting to watch. My question is: who can they move in order to resign Kessel? Ryder, Sturm, Bergeron? They don't really have a ton of options considering the likely value of Kessel's contract.

I am excited about the haul we got from Toronto for Kessel, but I wonder how they will unachieve again this season?

I see the Bruins have gone back to standing around with their thumbs up their *****.

Very lackluster performance last night by the B's against Washington. Could this team be over-rated, or was it just opening night jitters?
