Well, as tyler would say the good run sorta continued last night. No ring game as Ive been pressing the last few times and it cost me some money. Played two tournaments last night. Here are the results.

$75.00 45 person. Got 3 handed and was the short stack. Doubled up on the very first hand and all three of us were essentially even. Alas it wasnt meant to be. On the very next hand, guy shoves and I call with AQ. He shows AJ and spikes the J. I turn the Q but it gives him a redraw to the flush, which hits on the river. Out 3rd $496.00 instead of potentiall $1,179.

$75.00 40k guarantee - 801 started. Nothing really happened. Played very patient. Doubled at one point when I guy tried to bluff into my flopped boat. Never got above 7.5k and was down to 2200 once antes started. Open shoved three times to get to 4k. The an interesting hand happened. With blinds at 150/300 +ante. Guy opens from middle position to 655. I flat call from the big with 107 suited. I flop the flush we get all in and he shows a flopped set. I avoid the boat and double to 7.2k. Several hands later I lose half the stack when my overpair was defeated by a turned set. Down to 3k with 200/400 blinds I open shove with AQ hearts and run into AA. Was happy with my play but not the result. Finish 200 something ish.

I have been following a strict bankroll management program now since early November and I have had good results.

You must be getting pretty well rolled if you're still being strict these last three days. Good going.

How long do those 45 man dealies you seem to be favoring tend to run?
12/3/2009 2:25 PM
Unless something changes, it's going to take a good year for me to earn gator his referral bonus on UB. That **** is slow going at $0.05/$0.10
12/3/2009 2:27 PM
So I have gone from 50$ to 558$ in just a short while. The 45 player 10$ buy in tourneys have been great. Iam 2-2 with a 1st and a 2nd. I have also been playing .50$- $1 Limit Hold-em in rings games, usually two tables at a time. I make a small profit at those games as well and build up some solid full tilt points.

about 2 hours. The top 6 cash, so a higher % cash than in the 90 player KO tourneys. There seem to be a high # of fish in the 10$ tourneys making it a good level to play.
12/3/2009 2:29 PM
Interesting. Maybe I'll run a few of the $1.10 ones tonight, since my FTP balance is down to like $9.
12/3/2009 2:30 PM
Since I have gone up over $500, the 10$ buy-in is about 2% of my bankroll. I usually buy in to the .50 - $1.0 game for 30$. I feel that starting with 30 big bets in a limit game is the optimum buy in.
12/3/2009 2:32 PM
I still cannot stomach limit.

I am way more comfortable with my no-limit cash game now than I was 10 days ago, though. Last night's unfortunate events notwithstanding.
12/3/2009 2:33 PM
I like my current strategy of using UB for training myself to play cash, and mixing in some of their $1.10 mtts (the PLO turbo at 10-something is fun).
12/3/2009 2:35 PM
There are not as many train wrecks in limit, and you can play a lot more hands. So your bankroll is in a much less volatile situations. It is just a matter of learning how to play it. Suited connectors are much more powerful since you get the right price to call most of the time. If you limit aggressively and raise anytime preflop that you decide to play a hand, it can be a very profitable way to go. I actually prefer limit games.

The fish are around in the 26.00 and 75.00s as well as shocking as it may sound. The key to the 45s IMHO is patience in hand selection until you can get a double, then you can play a bit more loose.

This is why Ive switched to the 7-game mix. Of course the NL-Holdem and PL Omaha rounds are contrary to this position, but you can sit out or play those 20 hands uber tight.
