DEP3 - Draft Every Player/Season Topic

The spirit of the rule is clear and obvious.

If all of the park factors are the identical, but the name has changed, then choosing one of them takes all of them. If any of the park factors are different, then each of them can be selected.

So that there is no confusion about the status, because PrimetimeTW has not specified which version of Yankee Stadium he want, he has not made a pick and anyone can still take a version of Yankee Stadium that they want until he does.

--For this draft, we will do 17 rounds (days) of one pick per owner, then three days of two picks per owner, and then one day of three picks per owner--so the draft should take 21 days (We will take off Christams Day, so it will actually be 22 days this time.). If you do the math, this adds up to 26, yet rosters are only 25. This is due to the fact that each team must use one of these draft spots to draft a stadium. All stadiums will be exclusive. *Royals stadium and Kaufmann stadiums are the same stadium though--IE two differently named stadiums in the same city with the exact same dimensions are the same stadium.

I believe Yankee II and Yankee III are exactly the same dimensions, so I'll take that one.

So Yankee Stadium (I) is still available. Thanks for the clarification guys. :)
Yankee II & III aren't the same stadium though.
Yankee II opened in 1976.
Yankee III opened in 2009.

Yankee I & II are technically the same venue on the same grounds.. But significantly renovated.
I still miss YSII in real life. YSIII is great, sure, but the feeling of the place and the crowds aren't the same.

I think most of us figured this was the case. Thanks for clarifying.

It appears that the wording of the rule on stadiums is different from what we've done in other DEAL drafts. By the wording quoted above, it's only dimensions that matter. In the past it has really been park factor that has been the indicator of difference. I think this is a pickle. We need commish to weigh in...
Actually, the wording comes from the DEAL draft description and is exactly same. This hasn't been in issue in two dozen drafts and I hope it isn't now.

The dimensions do not affect game results but the park factors do, so that is really the only meaningful criteria in deciding what is unique.

I have sent PrimetimeTW a sitemail for his pick, and I'd prefer that he get his first choice, but if someone really wants a version of Yankee Stadium, I don't think we should wait forever for a decision.

Yeah you're right, I see that. I guess it just hasn't come into question before. Maybe just add something about park factor moving forward?

totally agree kbosch. YSIII looks like a museum, a mausoleum even. Not the same at all. I much prefer the old one, and Citifield is 10x better.
