Game 91: The Spectres score four times in the first inning but Chicago chips away at the lead and finally wears down the Montreal bullpen, scoring runs in the eighth and ninth to steal an 8-7 win.

Game 92: Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 34th home run and Omar Daal pitches 2-hit ball for eight innings as the Spectres win 7-1.

Game 93: Tony Phillips scores three and drives in three and the Spectre bullpen rescues the team from a poor Dave Burba outing as Montreal outlasts the Bootleggers 11-9.

The road trip continues with a trip to San Diego.

Game 94: Geoff Jenkins homers in the ninth to break a 3-3 tie and Rick Aguilera pitches a scoreless bottom half to preserve the one-run victory. It's Aguilera's 23rd save.

Game 95: San Diego returns the favor, scoring in the ninth to win 4-3. Bob Wickman takes the loss, allowing an RBI single to Tony Gwynn.

Game 96: Montreal outhits San Diego 10-8 but the middle of the lineup is ineffective, though not so much as Robb Nen, and the Conquistadors win 6-4.

Montreal returns home for a series with St. Louis.

Game 97: Greg Maddux, having an uncharacteristically mediocre year in St. Louis, still looks pretty good to the Spectres; Maddux limits Montreal to eight singles and beats Omar Daal 6-2.

Game 98: Dave Burba goes seven, scattering seven hits, and the Spectres even the series with a 5-2 win.

Game 99: Brian Bohanon, 4-10 with an ERA over seven, shuts out the Spectres for seven innings and the Blue Storm take the series with a 4-0 victory.

Montreal heads to LA to face the Looters, currently their closest pursuer in the wild card standings (5 GB).

Game 100: Bob Wickman has, unfortunately, a typical '98 appearance. He faces four batters and all score as the Looters take the opening game of this key series, 9-4.

Game 101: Montreal explodes for five runs in the second inning and that's enough for Omar Daal, who gets his 12th win with some help from the bullpen, who contribute three scoreless innings in an 8-3 win.

Game 102: Dave Burba strikes out 10 batters and Edgardo Alfonzo's grand slam starts a seven-run eighth inning as the Spectres take the series with a 13-4 decision in the finale.

The Spectres will host Cincinnati next.

Game 103: Jay Buhner hits his third home run of the season and drives in three as the Spectres beat Cincy 6-1 to open the series. Chuck Finley gets another win and moves within a game of .500 at 6-7.

Game 104: Cincinnati bludgeons the Spectre pitchers for 14 hits in an 8-5 win.

Game 105: Ken Griffey Jr. blasts a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to break a 3-3 tie and give the Spectres a victory. Julio Gambetta is effective in four innings in only his sixth start but Robb Nen gets the win in relief.

Montreal heads to San Francisco, looking to take out some frustrations on the hated Niners.

Game 106: Eddie Taubensee homers and drives in four to support Scott Erickson, who gets his ninth win in an 8-3 decision over Frisco.

Game 107: Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 37th home run and Omar Daal gets his 13th win as Montreal beats the Niners 5-3.

Game 108: Montreal is denied their rightful sweep as the absolutely awful Steve Woodard (2-13 entering the game) shuts them down for eight innings and Dave Burba gets lit up in an 11-1 rout.

Montreal will host Milwaukee next.

Game 109: Montreal falls behind 5-0 in the seventh but rallies to take the series opener 6-5, scoring four in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Bret Boone hits his 30th double; Ken Griffey Jr. blasts his 38th homer.

Game 110: Brady Anderson's three-run home run accounts for Montreal's only scoring as they drop a 5-3 decision to Milwaukee.

Game 111: Both pitching staffs have great outings, but the Spectre defense is little help. Montreal allows three unearned runs and doesn't score any, getting shut out by the Krauts 4-0.

The Spectres head to Houston to face the recently slumping Lone Stars (1-9 in last 10).

Game 112: Jay Buhner's pinch hit homer ties the game at two in the ninth, but the Lone Stars snap out of their slump, collecting three singles off Robb Nen in the bottom half to win the game.

Game 113: Montreal draws 14 walks, combined with 13 hits, and routs Houston 15-0. Edgardo Alfonzo hits the only home run, his 10th of the year.

Game 114: Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 39th home run and reaches 120 RBI for the season as the Spectres beat Houston 10-6, getting six scoreless innings from their much-maligned bullpen.

The Spectres will host Chicago next before starting the third round of divisional play.

Game 115: Chipper Jones hits two homers for the Bootleggers but the Spectres parlay four hits and six walks into five runs to beat Chicago 5-3 to open the series. Chuck Finley evens his record at 7-7.

Game 116: Montreal hits four home runs to withstand a four-extra-base-hit onslaught from Chicago's John Olerud to win a 15-10 slugfest. Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 40th home run of the season and Eddie Taubensee his 20th. Kelvim Escobar matches Chuck Finley, evening his record at 7-7.

Game 117: Montreal hits five more homers, including two by Geoff Jenkins, and beat the Bootleggers 11-3.

The third round of divisional play will start with a trip to Pittsburgh.

Game 118: Montreal manages only four hits (and 10 strikeouts) in eight innings against Hideo Nomo and the Boilers take the opener, 8-2.

Game 119: Montreal takes their second straight loss at the hand of the Boilers, stymied by Mike Oquist and a long line of relievers in a 3-2 decision.

Game 120: Pittsburgh takes Montreal to the limit but the Spectres manage to avoid a sweep, scoring four in the eighth and ninth to tie the game and then getting two-run home runs from Brady Anderson and Carlos Delgado in the 13th to win it, 9-5. Montreal gets seven scoreless innings from the bullpen.

Montreal heads to Shea Stadium to face the Cosmos.

Game 121: Eddie Taubensee drives in four runs and the Spectre bullpen extends its scoreless streak with 4.1 shutout frames as the Spectres beat the Cosmos 6-4.

Game 122: Brady Anderson reaches base four times and Eddie Taubensee homers as the Spectres win by a 6-4 score for the second consecutive day.

Game 123: Tony Phillips has four hits and the Spectres outslug New York 10-6. While prospect Julio Gambetta has a mediocre outing, he records his second win of the season. Bret Saberhagen tosses two scoreless innings for his second save of the season.

The first place Seaphils (82-41) will visit Montreal next.

Game 124: Montreal gives up 16 hits but rallies for two in the bottom of the ninth to steal a 7-6 win in the series opener; Edgardo Alfonzo homers to tie the score and rookie catcher Steve Gerano singles home the winner.

Game 125: Philly shells Omar Daal, who was looking for his 15th victory, and Mike Mussina pitches seven shutout frames as the Seaphils win a 9-0 laugher.

Game 126: Philly scores four in the first off Chuck Finley and builds a 6-0 lead in the third; the Spectres fall meekly, 7-3.

The Spectres head to St. Louis to face the Blue Storm.

Game 127: Greg Maddux works his usual magic on the Spectres and evens his record at 10-10 in a 7-4 victory. Bret Saberhagen hits a triple for Montreal but little else of note happens at the plate.

Game 128: Carlos Delgado and Bret Boone continue their assault on the 100-RBI mark, both hitting homers to move closer; Delgado is now at 99 and Boone at 97. Montreal wins, 11-4, behind Dave Burba.

Game 129: Brady Anderson leads off the game with a home run; Steve Gerano adds a three-run homer later in the inning, and the Spectres are off to a 10-6 win over St. Louis. Carlos Delgado doubles twice and drives in two, passing the 100-RBI mark.

The Spectres return to Montreal to host the West leaders, San Diego.

Game 130: Jay Buhner, having shown no power this season, blasts two homers and a double, driving in six, and the Spectres win the opener, 11-5.

Game 131: Dave Burba strikes out eight but allows 11 hits and eight runs as the Spectres fall to John Smoltz, 8-3.

Game 132:San Diego scores another five-run win, 7-2, behind Darren Dreifort with some help from Jason Giambi and Vinny Castilla, who hit home runs against the Spectre bullpen.

Huge series up next as the Spectres host Los Angeles, currently four games back in the wild card race.. first priority is to not get swept.
