when at or above $35M you can (OR, getting your payroll to $42.5M made easy):

1.) re-sign your own players who are in the last season of their contracts.

2.) sign your draft choices to their automatic two-year deals.

3.) make trades.

that's what I meant when I said we have the best of both worlds.

You have $35 to assemble your team. Once it's together, you can spend whatever it takes to keep it together.

In my case, I'd have to cut $7.5M worth of players, PLUS the value of the guy I want, in order to get a guy off the free agent list. So the free agent list is basically closed to me.

I DON'T have to let my good players walk because I'm over the cap.

I can add one 'free' guy per year through the draft.

I CAN make trades.

I'll trade you my team for yours.

I am guessing the answer to this question is yes it counts against your cap, so, no you cannot, but I'll ask it anyways...

Can you dump players to pick up WW?

For example I see some guys that can help my team out quite a bit but I do not have the money to make this happen. I was wondering if I dump a couple guys whether or not paying off their salaries would count against my 'cap' to make this happen....

You would have to dump enough salary to get back below the cap. You still have to pay part of their salary, so you'll have to figure out how far you can get.

So, for example on a 4 year contract I would have to pay off just the last 3 years and not 4?

If you click on the player's name, then dump the player, it'll show you how much you owe them, then give you the option to cancel the whole thing if you don't think it's worth it. That's how I've been doing it.

Well...I f'd up. I figured my team salary could drop below 0 to -35,000,000 and I could sign new guys. Instead I dumped a slew of guys to open up cap space and cannot sign anyone good now. Terrific.

Wait no, I fixed it..okay. We're worse for awhile, but it'll be worth it if we can pick up some easy W's here and there till we build up the finances some...

Your team has more hype fans than true fans. Win more games.

Yeah, thanks advisors. Great ******* advice. "You, Strawberry, hit a homerun!"

Getting really close to being able to afford Lyle Carbonara. I can do it by dropping just three guys.
