My mom is the oddball Science Fiction fan. I assume their is a Freudian reason I made that error, but that is another topic I only dabble in.

So lets correct and reask....and expand the parameters....

Should kids be reading Animal Farm, Atlas Shrugged, neither or both?

{spelling error corrected}
I think they should read both...but there are lots of other things they should read too.  My short list below:

Common Sense -- Thomas Paine
The Republic -- Plato
1984 -- Orwell
Democracy in America -- Tocqueville

and since you mentioned science fiction I'll also throw in Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress...both by Heinlein.

Whether you agree or disagree with the premises of these books all of them think pretty deeply about the relationship of an individual with society at large.  I believe it can only benefit kids to think through these issues so that they can figure out where they personnally stand on the issue.

She admits to a racist act about 20 years ago. Obama forced her to resign
Both those statements are lies.

That'll teach me to give you a chance.

Lies? That is a big word.

Well lets examine the issues. She said that she didnt get him all the help he could get because he was white. She latter corrected her error and fixed it, but that still seems like she committed a racist act. If you disagree please explain.

I may have been wrong about the Obama part. It was being reported yesterday that Obama was in on it, but that now appears incorrect. Not a lie of course.

I think I give you a lot more chances than you ever gave me, so lets try to get along.

All great books. I would add a book that cahnged my life in High school

Free to choose- Milton Friedman

The reason I posed that question was to just mess with him.

swamp, until you start to vet the news sources to trust better, there is no point whatsoever in discussing politics with you.

At least I get in the dirt and see what the people are saying.

Yesterday I listened to 2 Hours of Ed Schultz and 2 hours of Stephanie Miller (her repaet show in the evening).

How much Con input did you get yesterday?

This is what is wrong with Anton. He takes data from a very narrow source and is bothered by anyone who talks about a topic he sees as unimportant.

Anton is of no importance politically.

Yesterday? On the Sherrod thing? Let's see... Breitbart of course since that's where it started, Beck, Jonah Goldberg, Ed Morrissey, plus poking in on the #tcot feed a couple of times. Even Beck and Goldberg couldn't get behind Breitbart's bullshit.

You got suckered in by a serial liar -- snookered, to use the NAACP's nod to Malcolm X - and passed on Breitbart's lies without blinking.

You are a dupe, and until you wise up to the fact that you are being routinely lied to by the people you have decided to trust, your opinion is worthless because it's poisoned at the source.

I've said this to you before, in many different ways on many different occasions, but it never sticks. If it isn't obvious to you at this point that you were lied to when you were told that Sherrod was a racist, then you are truly hopeless.

Basically it comes down to whether you are OK being lied to or not. Most people would tend to get angry. You seem more inclined to defend the liars. That's just sad.

but, but......he listens to Ed Schulz and Stephanie Miller too.  Surely that means he has a good grasp on the real issues and facts and gets accurate information from both sides!

No, I wasn't calling you Surely.

Where is the swamphawk post about that agriculture *****?  I know it's somewhere.
7/21/2010 9:23 PM
Yesterday people couldnt dump on her fast enough, today people decided she is perfect. Could the truth lie somewhere in between.

1 She did commit a racist act. She made a concious decision to not give a white man as much help as she could. She didnt like the way he was treating her. This is her admission. This is not a made up, out of context fact.

2 She changed her mind, and helped him. She really came through for him.

3 Breitbart decided to push this. The rest of the Cons, like FOX, didnt jump on until she got fired. The main reson that I believed it wasnt any Right wing source, it was the Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack. If Fox reports and an Obama apointee confirms for me that is the definition of truth. I dont feel the need to fact check as much at that point. Partisan politics may be ugly, but I think if in 2006 Al Franken jumped on someone and Cheney fired him you would feel that he had actually done something.

4 I said yesterday and never waivered that she got screwed. This was clearly not a reason to lose her job. I knew that from the start.

5 The only reason some on the left are looking wise is that it was someone in the Obama administration. They wouldnt give as much slack to anyone in a Pub administration

6 So what exactly am I being stupid about Anton? You said I was lied to, by who? I know you feel the need to slam me, but if you want anyone to take your rants serious you actually need to defend your position!

3 - another lie. Fox was on the story about an hour after Breitbart posted it, and before Sherrod resigned.

In fact, you even contradict yourself here:

"The rest of the Cons, like FOX, didnt jump on until she got fired. The main reson that I believed it wasnt any Right wing source, it was the Secretary of Agriculture Vilsack. If Fox reports and an Obama apointee confirms for me that is the definition of truth."

First you say Fox didn't jump on it until after she was fired, then you say Vilsack's reaction was confirmation of what Fox was reporting. Oops.

**** off, tool. You opinions are worthless.

I dont see any evidence that Fox reported this before sherrod gave the interview on CNN talking about pulling over to resign.

I didnt put the Fox/Vlasic thing in any order. I was at work and cannot watch TV all the time, even if the News is always on. My point was I heard it reported and Vilsack was reported as having fired her. I didnt feel the need to research it much after then.

Your little tirades are so cute. I have never seen anyone make up a lie, and then get angry about it. It is becoming clear you are completely out of touch with not only what is really happening in American Politics, but you are losing your grip on reality. Anything I say is now portrayed by you as a complete lie!

Get your facts together or stick to moveon.org where you only have to deal with other left wing zombies!
