Really? That's nice. And you were anti Bush right? But Obama made you hate the Dems?
I was anti Bush. Yeah. I was a moderate and actually while I didn't vote for him, I thought it was good for the country that BHO won. I didn't really agree with his policies and my priorities changed a bit as I had kids, more bills, etc. I thought (rightly or wrongly) he was very divisive and really anti Israel, which as you know is a hot button for me. I didn't like that he kept interest rates artificially low, resulting in an inflated stock market. I also thought he over regulated and his sequester was bleh. I was really hopeful he would address entitlements and he didn't. Lastly, I was hopeful he would either nationalize healthcare or create more competition. Instead the ACA was messy.
Again, rightly or wrongly I didn't like him and this time it was not just me but my family that it impacted. That being said I didn't like how the Dems ran their election and basically in my opinion pushed Sanders aside via the super delegates. I also didn't like how HRC called Trump supporters deplorables and irredeemables. Lastly, I didn't like that Palestinian Flag at the DNC. After seeing that I decided I could never vote Blue again (rightly or wrongly).
So far I like what Trump has done as my primary hot buttons were lower regulations/lower corp. taxes; stronger military; full support of Israel and denouncement of Iran; stronger immigration policies.
What really made me lean even more to the right is the people stating that if someone supports Trump they must be racist. I find that train of thought ridiculous. I also think the far left has gone off the deep end in terms of limiting free speech if they find it offensive. Lastly, I think the media and the universities have really gone Leftist too. So now I am leaning more to the Right for sure.
My dad, who was a strong supporter and donor to the Dem party has gone to the very right. He is 100% Fox News, Trump, etc. Thinks the Dems betrayed him. That perception is his reality. As I explained to you I listen to many voices, both conservative and liberal. I enjoy them equally. I favor Ben to a certain extent but Sam Harris as well. Eric Weinstein is really bright and very well spoken and logical. As is Jordan Peterson.
