Midwesterners just cram both beer and cheese in their mouth simultaneously so I don't think they need to flavor their beer or cheese with the other.

what's worse?  Michael Vick's crime or Jerry Sandusky's crime?

is it kind of silly that wylie had to ask that question?

It's obviously Sandusky but that doesn't mean Vick isn't so bad.   Both took advantage of those who were powerless to stop them.   Throw grandma rapers into the same bag.

I know what he was doing.   My thoughts on Mike Vick are fairly well-known.  But the thing is both were over long periods of time with numerous victims.   There are no winners from either situation.

Edit: I'd shed no tears if either showed up dead from a bullet in the brain.   Preferably after struggling to fight for their life for several hours.   I actually think it's a real possiblity for Sandusky to choose to eat a bullet.

How much attention, if any, do you pay to the GB/FB rating?

And what's the status of the index to the first 456 pages of this thread? Can we expect it soon?

It's factored into my formula for pitching but it's also the least important rating.   All "red" ratings are in the formula except P4/P5 for SP and S3-P5 for RP.  However, once I use my formula to help me determine the "top 10" so to speak, I "eyeball" the pitchers and, quite honestly, GB/FB plays a bigger part in determining role(as do unfactored pitches from my formula).  Especially in a HR+ park.

You'll have to talk to Threadmaster Sergie.  I just answer question.  He keeps the books.

I am new to HBD.  Took over a abondoned team.   30 games in and 15-15.  Team won 70 last yr and should do better this yr.  Mostly young guys in mid 20's on the team and only 54Mil salary.  Top 1/3 in hitting right now....bottom 1/3 in pitching.  I am considering a trade for pitching.  Basically, I want to trade the best young hitter and decent Pitching prospect for the best young SP in the league and a decent OF.

I give away:
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dave Myette

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dean Crabtree

I get:
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Jamey Lee

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dante Wallace

What do you think?

Just a side note....The above is what I am considering as a counter proposal, not the original offer.... but it is actually very close to what I was offered.  The secondary guys are different.

My other option to help my pitching would be more of a band-aid and trade for a mid-30's SP that costs a lot.  I would have him for this year and next and would not have to give away my best guy....but I sure like the idea of having Jamey Lee for a long time on my team.

First, I'm totally against new owners making big deals.  It usually works out bad for them and they hate themselves for it.  Myette and Lee are both going to be beasts.   Crabtree and Wallace are whatever.   Don't think about this season so much as it's a learning experience for you.  So discard band-aid options especially if it's going to involve Myette.  Personally, I'd take Lee.  Pitchers are effective for much longer and Myette is never going to be more than a COF/1B.  He's also going to put up MVP numbers for 10 seasons.   He might be doing it for another team as he's going to be a FA around 28/29(I can't see his contract status).  You'll be able to control Lee into his early 30s.    That said, you have to determine if it's a pitcher's or hitter's world.  If stud hitters are hard to find, Myette's value increases.  But, in my experience, finding owners who'll trade pitching is much tougher than finding a way to get a COF/1B.  Good luck.  And don't hesitate to ask questions.  Of me or anyone else.  Just remember to understand the source of the answers.

That is not a question.

Neither is that.

Thank you for the detailed answer and for the advice.

Doesn't Bryan understand the concept of "Ask MikeT"?

You're welcome but that is not a question.  Don't be insulted when Threadmaster Sergie redlines you.

Evidently not.

Who do you use in a catcher platoon against righties?
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Rafael Colome
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Chris Prior
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Leo Badilla
Team coming off consecutive 100+ win years.  Improved 2B and CF and SP (only slightly).  Used Colome last year, but he is aging.  Been trying to trade, but don't see anything better out there.
11/10/2011 9:47 PM
To me, Badilla is the obvious choice.  The other two invite a track meet.   Your world may not recognize weak armed defensive catchers and adjust to them but I do.
