I do not. When the principal players in the controversy are the face of the football team, and quite possibly the university, it has plenty to do with the football team. Additionally, the football program brings about 50m to the school(assuming the numbers being tossed around are correct) so protecting the leaders of the program are paramount to cash flow. It's how big-time athletics work.
No. Shutting down the program kills it for way more than 3-4 years. Everything would have to be rebuilt. Ridding themselves of anyone associated with it for the last 8-10 years would sate the bloodlust of the outsiders and keep it as a weakened yet viable program for the near future.
