No.  Shutting down the program kills it for way more than 3-4 years.   Everything would have to be rebuilt.   Ridding themselves of anyone associated with it for the last 8-10 years would sate the bloodlust of the outsiders and keep it as a weakened yet viable program for the near future.

JD can play SS.  He'll get a few negative plays but he'll do OK.    RD doesn't really have the range for a 2B, IMO, but he won't be horrible either.  Not sure where you want to play DI but I'd play him anywhere but SS/2B/CF.

I'm not going to say I feel sorry for Paterno but he seems to be getting more venom thrown his way than the guy who raped kids or the guy who saw the other guy raping a kid and decided the best course of action was to call his dad.  Paterno is paying a price for his neglect.   Maybe we should just let the old man die in peace.
