Game 115: Milwaukee gets back over .500 as they rally for a 7-2 win in Washington. Mike Ivie hits a grand slam in the eighth to put the Riders on top and Willie Aikens adds a pinch-hit two-run shot in the ninth. Elias Sosa pitches two scoreless innings in relief for the win, improving to 5-0.

Game 116: Three Rider pitchers combine to earn no earned runs in a 7-1 victory over the Commandos. Mike Ivie's two-run homer caps a four-run eighth.

Game 117: Milwaukee extends its streak to 18 innings without allowing an earned run and the Riders have won eight straight as they beat Washington 4-1 behind Tommy John (15-10).

The Riders return home to face Georgia Force, who now lead Milwaukee by only one game for third place.

Game 118: A close contest goes badly when the Rider bullpen gets involved; Atlanta scores five in the eighth and two more in the ninth to win the series opener, 9-2.

Game 119: This one is a complete bludgeoning as the Force roll over Milwaukee 16-0. Dennis Martinez pitches a complete game shutout.

Game 120: Milwaukee salvages the finale, winning 5-4 with three hits from Ted Sizemore and three RBI from Bill Madlock.

The Riders host Montreal next.

Game 121: Dave Kingman hits his 55th home run of the season and Dusty Baker drives in four as former Rider Bill Lee picks up his 11th win of the season, 10-6 over the Riders. The man Lee was traded for, John Montefusco, pitches an inning of relief for Milwaukee in the lost cause.

Game 122: Hal McRae and Thurman Munson hit home runs and Rich Gossage pitches a scoreless ninth for his 24th save as the Riders beat the Lynchers 4-3.

Game 123: Dusty Baker hits four home runs and a single as the Lynchers blow out the Riders 11-4 to take the series.

Milwaukee heads to Cleveland to take on the Saltdogs.

Game 124: JR Richard pitches a complete game for Cleveland in the series opener, winning his 20th game of the season 9-2 over the Riders.

Game 125: Tommy John pitches another gem and the Riders sneak past the Saltdogs, 2-1, to even the series. Rich Gossage pitches the ninth for his 25th save.

Game 126: Rick Sutcliffe allows only an unearned run in six innings and the Riders hold on through a shaky outing by Elias Sosa to take the series from Cleveland, winning 7-6 in the finale. Sutcliffe gets his eighth win.

As usual, we follow Cleveland with the league-leading Angels, flying to Anaheim on a red-eye.

Game 127: Willie Wilson and Jim Rice hit three-run homers as the Angels edge the Riders 8-7 to open the series. The Milwaukee bullpen is a disaster as Sammy Stewart allows four runs and Ron Reed another two.

Game 128: Milwaukee clinches a .500 road trip through the heart of the AL leaders, beating Anaheim 6-2 after a four-run seventh capped by Richie Hebner's two-run homer. Elias Sosa gets the win in relief, improving to 7-0 on the season.

Game 129: Milwaukee stays close, but can't generate any offense in the late innings and drop the rubber match, 3-2, costing Tommy John a chance at his 17th win. John drops to 16-12.

The Riders will return to Milwaukee for a 15-game homestand, starting with the Chicago Goats.

Game 130: Rick Sutcliffe allows only an unearned run in seven innings and the bullpen holds the Goats down the rest of the way as the Riders win the opener of the homestand, 2-1. Frank Taveras singles home the winner in the eighth.

Game 131: It takes a while to warm up, but the Rider offense finally gets going in the late innings and Milwaukee takes its second straight from the Goats, 11-4. Wayne Nordhagen hits his first home run of the season; Ron Reed pitches three 1-hit innings for the win.

Game 132: Richie Hebner is 4-4 and scores three times; Jon Matlack pitches three scoreless innings in relief for the win and the Riders sweep Chicago with an 8-5 victory.

The Athletics are in town next.

Game 133: Ron Reed and Sammy Stewart combine to allow seven runs in the eighth and ninth, wasting a good outing by Tommy John and dropping an 8-3 decision to Philly.

Game 134: The Rider offense has disappeared; Milwaukee manages only six hits in a 4-1 loss to the Athletics.

Game 135: Hal McRae hits a first-inning grand slam and the Riders add two more runs in the second, but do absolutely nothing after that and suffer a sweep at the hands of Philadelphia, dropping a 7-6 game in the series finale.

Now 3-3 on the homestand, the Riders hope to regroup with Minnesota coming to town.

Game 136: The skid reaches four games as the Riders fall short, 5-4, in the opener against Minnesota. Moosehead leadoff man Dan Ford has four hits including a big home run off Jon Matlack to pace the Minnesota attack.

Game 137: Bill Madlock and Mike Ivie drive in three each as the Riders beat Minnesota 10-6 to give Tommy John his 17th win.. John finally gets some run support and wins a game in which he pitches poorly (14 hits and six runs allowed).

Game 138: Both offenses disappear, Milwaukee's more than Minnesota's, and the Mooseheads take the series with a 2-1 win. Rick Sutcliffe pitches well but takes his 17th loss of the season.

The Mammoths will be in town next... New York is in last place, sitting on 98 losses. Milwaukee has fallen back to .500 at 69-69.

Game 139: New York hits three homers, Milwaukee none. Yet the Riders emerge with a 7-5 win on the strength of a three-run seventh that includes three doubles. Ron Reed gets the win in relief and Rich Gossage picks up his 29th save.

Game 140: New York scores three in the ninth to break a 4-4 tie but the Riders rally in the bottom half, getting three doubles and four runs to complete an improbably comeback for the 8-7 win.

Game 141: Frank Taveras steals three bases and scores five times as the Riders pound an exhausted Mammoths staff for 24 hits on the way to a 17-7 win. Tommy John benefits from another offensive explosion, getting his 18th win.

The homestand conlcudes with a visit from Washington.

Game 142: Milwaukee clinches a winning homestand behind Rick Sutcliffe, who pitches a complete game in a 7-1 decision. Richie Hebner walks three times and scores three runs.

Game 143: Shut out for eight innings by Steve Rogers, the Riders rally for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal a 2-1 win from the Commandos. Frank Taveras' fourth hit of the game, with the bases loaded, scores Denny Walling with the winner.

Game 144: Another pitchers' duel goes Washington's way, 2-1. Bruce Kison allows two unearned runs in five innings and suffers his 15th loss.

A road trip to Georgia and Montreal will hopefully see more hitting than this series did.

Game 145: The batting support received by Tommy John in recent weeks is absent, as is the fielding support. The Riders commit two errors behind John, leading to five unearned runs, and the Force stroll to an easy 8-2 win over Milwaukee.

Game 146: Milwaukee blows a 10-3 lead, scores in the ninth to force extras, but loses in the 13th, 12-11, on a Gary Carter single.

Game 147: Atlanta completes a sweep of the Riders, winning 9-5 over Lary Sorensen.

Milwaukee heads to Montreal for three against the Lynchers.

Game 148: Milwaukee snaps their skid and stays over .500 with a thrilling 9-8 win over Montreal. Wayne Nordhagen hits a two-run double in the eighth to give the Riders the lead; Elias Sosa, Ron Reed and Rich Gossage cover the final two innings to protect it. Gossage gets his 30th save.

Game 149: A six-run ninth is too little, too late for the Riders as Montreal holds on for an 11-8 win. Tommy John falls to 18-14.

Game 150: Milwaukee falls back to .500 with a thud, outhitting Montreal 13-11 but losing on the scoreboard 12-4. Former Rider Fred Norman gets his 14th win.

The last homestand of the season brings league leaders Cleveland and Anaheim to town.

Game 151: Milwaukee is no match for Cleveland, who pounds out 20 hits in a 10-1 victory that gives Dennis Eckersley his 20th win of the season.

Game 152: Milwaukee shocks the Saltdogs with a five-run eighth inning, all off Kent Tekulve, and the Riders even the series with a 5-2 win. Elias Sosa pitches 1.2 scoreless innings for the victory, his 10th of the season.

Game 153: Milwaukee deals a blow to Cleveland's playoff hopes, getting six shutout innings from Tommy John and a game-winning single from Bill Madlock in the 10th inning to beat JR Richard, 2-1. Richard falls to 25-8.

Cleveland falls two games behind Anaheim, Milwaukee's next opponent.
