Brutal effort against Minnesota.. to worried about playing system than desperation.. 3 extremely soft goals doesnt help the confidence

Hope Langkow misses a couple of games...

beat the sharks, then lose to the wild. of course everyone's beating the sharks now days. i'd love to make the playoffs and faceoff against them right now. heh. looks like it'll be chicago on top though. or possibly even the coyotes. did ANYONE predict them having this good of a season. i sure as hell didn't.

we're four back on detroit, six back on the avs, eight back on the kings, and eight back on the preds with a game in hand. the preds though are actually fighting hard. i don't think we'll catch them. the wings are all healthy and back to dominant play. we're not gonna catch them. that leaves the kings and avs. kings got a game in hand over us and are playing well, so i don't think that's happening. leaves us the avs. we got a tough schedule. anaheim (still a tough team, even though out of the playoff hunt), boston, washington, pheonix. to round out march. and the islanders, which we better friggin beat. then chicago, another against minny who usually has our number, san jose and vancouver. as well as a game against the avs. gonna be tough to win half those games, let alone the eight plus we need to have a shot.

but... vancouver likely won't be playing for much in the final game. might be to our advantage. san jose is tanking down the stretch. if we're still in the hunt down the last few games, we might be able to pull of some much needed victories. the KEY game though will of course be against the avs on the 2nd. assuming of course that we still have a shot.

the upside is that the avs schedule isn't any better than ours. they got L.A., phoenix, san jose, and anaheim to close out march, and then calgary, san jose, vancouver, edmonton (the only sure victory), chicago, and L.A. again.

what this means is that we still have a chance, but we gotta want it. we gotta play hard for sixty minutes every game for the rest of the season and come up with at least seven wins in the last ten. preferably eight or more. i won't give up hope until it's mathematically impossible. and once you're in the playoffs, an eighth place seed can turn it on and go all the way to the finals. just gotta gel at the right time. :>

Woo hoo.. at least somebody else hasnt given up all hope

G_M...The Pens gave you no help at all last night. I blame Nick for all the Sid bashing.

This guy is probably right. Certainly the Canucks fans know first hand what its like to miss the play-offs, contiually rebuild with the inability to compete.

The Canucks last re-build could not have been that bad.....This will be the 10th straight season the team will finish above .500 and the core of the team is locked up for several seasons. If the Flames miss the play-offs, the only Sutter who will be on the team is Brett! I expect a complete blow-up of the Flames if they miss the playoffs. Iginla may be the only safe player...

Flames just havent been the same since Kristian Huselius ..ripped the heart and soul from the team

"Quest for the cup"? hahahahahahahahahahahahahah is there a cup for non playoff teams that im unaware of?
3/23/2010 9:49 PM
well, we got the job done tonight against the ducks, or should i say against hiller. one game at a time. four back of the avs now, though they have a game in hand. and nashville finally lost, so we're only six back on them, and we have the game in hand. we're also two back on the wings, but they have a game in hand. :>

as for missing the playoffs and rebuilding, even if we lose the rest of our games, we still don't get a very good draft pick. we probably wouldn't even crack the top ten. i'd rather bow out in the first round then miss the playoffs for a tenth overall pick. :>
3/24/2010 1:27 AM
We don't even have a first round pick this year GM, do we? No sense trying to blow games if there is no benefit to it.

3/24/2010 6:51 AM
Flames don't have a 1st, 2nd OR 3rd rnd pick in the upcoming draft. At that's that's theirs, they might have a 3rd they traded for..not sure. So rebuilding at going to start this off season

Sutter (GM) gone

Who needs draft picks? Have you seen the Flames draft? Draft picks don't help you win now

The stereotype of Canucks fans perfectly stated

Hey nick, the first step to winning the cup is MAKING the playoffs.....Then 1 team is successful while 15 teams fail. If I am a sterotype then I would rather be one who is in the playoffs than one of the loser teams who miss the playoffs. You rebuild your team to make the playoffs, sometimes you get lucky and make a deep run to the cup finals, there is no guarantee that just because you finish first overall you will win the cup. I see four teams who I would favor to win the cup if the playoffs start today. 1)Caps, 2)Hawks, 3)Red Wings 4)Pens.........Canucks, Sabres need some help to go far in the playoffs.....forget about the Sharks.
