Yeah, I think it's fair. Value has to be defined by being part of a winner. I'm not sure Ellsbury was penalized that much because they were in it for most of the season. Again, I'm a bit biased because I hate the Sux and Pillsbury so I'd picked Verlander. Not so sure about Kemp/Braun. If you factor in the home park, you'd probably have to say Kemp had the better year but, since he played for a loser, I'd pick Braun.
I'll pre-face it by saying I don't watch very much NL baseball. I'd probably go with Miggy Cabrera if he could stay off the booze. But, since he can't, Robinson Cano. He drives me batty in the field because he's so non-chalant but he makes the plays. And he just hits. And hits.
No, he cannot. At least not in LA.
