Flames Thread: Scoring is overrated Topic

Exactly.. Canucks fans celebrate medocrity... they make the playoffs they are happy... Your happy being .500 in the last 10 years... woohoo... unless your at the very bottom of the conference your better than .500..

Flames make the playoffs, who cares... just another step, as you said, towards the cup... we fail if we dont make the playoffs, we fail if we lose in game 7 of the cup final.. playoffs, 1st round, second round, third round, final... nothing matters more than a piece of **** if you dont have the hardware

Success is measured by championships!

Second place is the first loser

If your not first your last

and when you plan a parade and your goal is to win the division, your a Canucks fan

We both watched the US Olympic team lose gold, they didnt win silver... and not one of those players was smiling at the end of that game.

You win Gold, and You win Bronze.......You Lose to get the Silver, on this note and this subject we both agree.

I do not know how I will feel if we lose game seven in the finals, it would be a failure for sure.....but a heck of a playoff ride!! Same as the Flames back in 2004 I was cheering for the Flames, but I was not cheering for the Oilers during their run.

Kind of like the Flames getting **** kicked by the Lightning..unless it was some bogus goal? like the unsportsmanlike Flames fans would have u beleive..but it boils down to you have to be in the top 16 to have a shot at the cup..28th place for the Flames aint gonna cut it...HAHAHAHAHAHA...sour grapes!

interesting bet next year would be..who will be the conference doormat? the 1 player Flames or the young under achieving Oilers?...tough call!

Not really... Detroit is in... and the Flames put themselves in this position when they lost 9 in a row... nobody else to blame... now they need to win 9 in a row to make up for it... will it happen?... probably not

Yep, at the beginning of the season the 'experts' questioned Calgary's lack of scoring depth. Not that this was a big secret really. Despite what people here predicted etc.. the reality was Calgary was realistically a distant 2nd in the Div at best. Also, most placed the Flames in the 6th to 7th seed of the post season (again at best).

So, the Flames lack of depth in the scoring department has really hurt them and therefore it is likely they will miss the post season. Now unless the Flames make some radical changes OR Stajan & Haggman are better than most think...Also, there is Backlund and Toskala etc etc With this many ???s I can't see them as contenders next season either.

BUT again you never know. How many said the Coyotes would contend for the Conference Title? How many said the AVs would be where they are right now? Most had the Flyers as a major contenders this season...

Toskala is gone as his contract is up...

I defintely had the Flames pegged higher... but I believe in them and support... too much I guess.. Scoring was supposed to be there and was at the beginning... but this team is like a true man... doing two things at once is a problem... its either score or play d... cant do both.. Vancouver suddenly figured it out and succeeded and moved from a one man team to a complete package, next year maybe a contender

Last year I had no faith... Getting rid of Cammalerri was a big boost to us this year... we just held onto Phiona too long... 10-6-1 I believe since the trade

The thing is, who is going to pick up Vesa. I think the Flames have a decent chance in resigning him (if his price is right of course).

I don't see how people can say the Scoring 'was supposed' to be there. Jokin' had just had a couple of good seasons but to be realistic 20+ is the best you could've expected. Bourque has had a career year at 20+, not something you could've counted on in pre-season. Langkow, is no better than a 20 goal guy (never will be). So really all they had was Iggy with 30+ potential. With Jokin' & Langkow... you're talking 80 goals maybe 90 at most. At the start of the season, you had to know this team might hit 200 GF nothing more. So that is barely 2.5 goals a game..you're going to rely on your D a LOT.

Now when you look at their GF (tied for 2nd worst in the league) and their W/L record, I'd say they have done pretty well considering their scoring problems.

I heard he was heading to the KHL... just rumors... He isnt worth a million but will ask for more considering he makes 4 mil now.. considering the retarded signing of Stajan, we need every pennty we can for scoring free agents... maybe buy out Kotalikmyballs.. hopefully resign White

Would also love to get rid of Langkow... anyway possible.. White tried.. 4.5 mil and nothing... scored 33, got his contract then fell apart.
