Nicely played!

Hey UncleAl, tell me something from one y to one ambidextrous guy.....how do you propose to throw out a handed batting speedy runner when the ball is chopped just over the pitchers head and you have to come in fast? Because I have tried it a few times in the past week and each time, I have to debate whether I am going to go see a doctor and have my arm amputated from the pain of TRYING to break it at the shoulder and re-angle it in order to throw like Dave Dravecky or Tony Saunders.....

1.) Charge the ball
2.) Play the hop
3.) With the ball at waist level, swat it with the closed mitt on your right hand, which is swept rapidly across the front of your body at a very slight upward plane
4.) Pump fist in jubilation as the swatted ball beats the runner to first by a half-step.
The PINGPONG technique.

This is different from "turning two" since fielding a grounder doesn't necessarily require possession of the ball. This swatting technique would be a safe, fast way to get the ball to first base. The major problem is that the fielder would be using his right (gloved) hand to do the swatting, meaning he would either be ambidextrous or right-handed, which would eliminate the need for such a move.

This is now the "PingPong Conundrum"

...so where's the video?

For the record, my friend tried it and failed badly.

I felt bad for making him do it.

He ended up icing his arm for an hour.

Just to prove that it can be repeated, we're going to reshoot soon. However, due to personal issues which this community at large is not privy to, I cannot pin an exact date on this reshoot.
So, unfortunately, it may be a while.
