I don't like the "I don't care about competing" attitude.  Nonetheless, if that's your attitude, I'd demote him to AAA, take the potential ratings hit and THEN put him on the 60 day DL if my medical budget was high.    If you're med-bud is high, you should regain your lost demotion ratings. 

No, not surprised.  I don't know why Santorum hasn't clicked with the conservatives but he hasn't.   Which, by the way, makes him Obama meat if he were to win the GOP nom.

I don't think he's crazy.   He's pretty smart.   If I had to compare him to a football coach, I'd say "Charlie Weiss".    Knows what he's doing but just isn't good with dealing with people who aren't doing what he tells them to do.

I'm one vote.  If the Repubs send an unelectable candidate, we get 4 more years of Obama.   An Obama that won't be restrained by a re-election bid.   Unless something crazy happens, Romney is the only candidate I believe that could beat Obama in a general election. 

Since it is a state-by-state contest -- and not a national popular vote race -- if Newt were to be the nominee and select Rubio as VP, putting Florida safely in GOP hands, won't he still have a chance given the increase in Texas electoral votes and decrease in California ones since the last election?

I don't know.   I don't think Newt is especially "likeable" and that's big.  He doesn't look "Presidential".   Seriously, Newt looks and sounds like a dude who could be selling used cars on the corner.  A smart used car salesman but still the used car salesman.  Or maybe a televangelist.
