So you admit that you tanked?
5/9/2010 3:51 PM
No, what I admit is that I lost my best player, a 2B who bats cleanup and was ranked in the middle of the 80's for over 300 days. Then I called up my best young SP, he made 3 starts and was lost for the season. And I went into a mid-season swoon where my team lost a bunch of games. However, nobody played out of position. I didn't have low-a caliber guys on my ML squad... none of that. I had ONE stud in AAA who I could of called up, but why waste his service time when he was still progressing?

And what you're not hearing Harth, is that despite all of this, my team ended up playing .500 ball over the last 35 or so games when I easily could have tanked to the top pick... and more interesting is that over that same time period, Trop's team went into a free fall and ended up in the draft spot behind me. So, how is it that I'm a "tanker" and he's the "savior of the world?"

I didn't call him a savior, nor did I call you a tanker, I just asked the question based upon your willingness to move yourself down. Personally I think you're both being idiots over the situation, but I do find it quite entertaining. Carry on.

I won 15 more games than you with a team that won seven games the year prior...I don't think there is much of a comparison.

I'm willing to move down bcuz everytime I try to address the issues that would be created by handing the 2 best teams the 2 best players, Trop and MikeT sabatage the discussion by claiming that I'm just after one of the top picks. So, inorder to try to facilitate conversation towards doing what's best for the league, I threw out that I'd willing agree not to pick higher than 10th as long as the best teams were at the bottom and the worst at the top. Does that seem like I'm really being that unreasonble?

Obviously it won 7 games the year before bcuz it was grossly tanked and the ML pitching staff was purposely wrecked very early on. That record had zero to do with the actual talent level of that franchise. You know this.

I took myself out o the draft completely. You do that and we will have something to talk about.

No, neither one of us should do that. We shouldn't be in the top spots bcuz we're the most vocal, but it's foolish to allow the rest of the league to simply pull ahead of us talent wise just to make a smartass point.

So do you really think that they rigged the random draft order to give the better players to 2 of the better teams? That is the only circumstance that I could see you're behavior as being reasonable.

Their solution is better than what is currently happening. I think my solution should please everybody, but right now both sides are being stubborn. There is no situation where everybody wins. Accept that. Find something where most win and those that didn't was just as a result of bad luck.
