Keep in mind, Jews have had a long history of oppression also but that doesn't mean that I think that anybody owes me anything and I don't teach my kids that they are owed anything. I think it is a grave error to preach rhetoric that the current generation owes something because of the sins of a prior generation or generations.

What good comes from telling young minorities that the country is racist/bigoted and they are born with one hand tied behind their back? Doesn't that in actuality hurt them more than stating "if you work hard you can achieve anything in this country, regardless of race or gender"?

I'm not sure how denying reality helps anyone.

If someone is born with one leg, does it make sense to tell them that they actually have two legs?
Being born a minority is not the same as missing a limb.
It's called an analogy.
False equivalency

From stuff I read, docs on the History Channel, etc. I mean baseball didn't even allow black players until 1947. So the data is there.
I however, don't dismiss that racism was very prevalent not too long ago in our public and private employment sectors.

How recent? And how do you know?
I already answered this question.
So 1947???? That's fairly long ago. There hasn't been institutional racism since?
I am sure there has.
Ok. How recent? And how is it evident?

I’m not equivocating anything. It’s an analogy.

If someone is born pretty they will likely have more advantages than someone who is ugly. Life is full of advantages and disadvantages.

Right. And you wouldn’t insist that the ugly person is actually a 10 and should move to LA to be a model and movie star, right???

You said institutional racism existed not very long ago. How recent and how was it evident?

The whole Holocaust issue resonates with me because I feel as though people tend to brush it under the rug and dismiss how the Jewish people have suffered because of:
  1. Perception that Jews control media and $$ and are well off.
  2. Israel is this evil entity.
When people like Tang post pics of Hitler to be a jerk I find that utterly abhorrent. Especially since he knew that Hitler was responsible for the deaths of 90% of my ancestors. I will let a lot go but not this.

BTW - I have a new binky, Bad Luck.

John James - Michigan 2024
Wait, what? The only people who dismiss the Holocaust are the alt-right crazies and the far-left crazies. Posting a picture of Hitler isn't dismissing the Holocaust. It's also not supporting what he did.

Also, you just posted a 'meme' saying that Democrats are Nazis. How is that NOT dismissing how Jewish people have suffered? Saying that supporting Palestinian rights is equivalent to the HOLOCAUST is the very definition of minimizing and disrespecting.

We ll see when you stand in front of your God. He ll judge you not I. And if your God sees you posting pictures of Hitler to troll a person who lost most of his ancestors to that person as no big deal then its fine. But somehow we both agree that will not be the case. Bring some sun tan lotion.

I did a deal for this entity called the BELL Foundation. Building Educated Leaders for Life. I spoke at length to the founder and CEO, who is a Harvard grad and he believed when the .com boom hit work prejudices went away and capitalism reigned supreme as the demand for workers outpaced the supply. I remember when I entered the permanent workforce, which was around that time (1995 or so) and I did not see any racism and I traveled the country doing deals. My guess is he was right. Again, I am not an expert on economics but I'll stick with this educated guess.

Why are you so persistent in finding out what I think?
8/8/2018 1:58 PM
So, according to you, institutional racism ended in the late 1990's, when the economy was good?

Up until then, what kinds of evidence could you use to see that institutional racism was present?
