Obviously, I hope that Fernandez transfers. If he does, in recruiting I'll have the money for 5 open scholarships, plus whatever the ACC picked up (divided by 12). Looks like something above $10k for me. Add to that either $60k or $75k, and I hope that my prestige stays somewhere around an A-. I'm in a good recruiting area, so I hope I can pull in a good class.

Ideally, I'd like a PG, an SG, two bigs, and a good SF.

I expect to scout MD, VA, PA, and NY. I may throw in a few states that are further away, or smaller, to get the maximum discount. I think I need 8 total for that.

Coach, you promised to make me the starter and didn't deliver. I promised I'd transfer - I'm delivering. Kiss my curvy butt goodbye. BTW, I'll make sure everyone knows what a liar you are.

------------

my reputation went down to a B.

Fernandez regained his WE upon leaving:

A big drop in prestige but we're still in decent shape. If I can get some momentum, it'll be back up very quickly. I should be able to recruit okay.

#14 PG, #92 overall, ****; no promises. Hodges looks good to me, potentially as an immediate starter. He wasn't quite my first choice for the PG slot but that's only because he was a little further away and would take some extra time to develop, and can't shoot at all. I'll keep his distribution low. He should be good everywhere else.

#26 SG, #139 overall, ***; no promises. I really, really like Richard Whittaker...as a PG. As an SG, I have to take issue with his perimeter rating and potential. I think everything else will really work out, but the perimeter rating, not so much. Still, he'll be fun to watch grow, and maybe it won't matter.

JuCo 2; #52 PF, #186 overall, ***; promised 15 minutes. I was getting desperate, and decided I needed a warm body for a couple of years. Bill Delaney fit the need well enough, and I didn't have to spend too much to get him. It'll be interesting to see how much better he'll get.

#10 PF, #28 overall, ***** (and Mr. Maryland); no promises. The areas of concern: rebounding and FT shooting. Everything else will be fine but I wouldn't have put a high priority on Rumfelt. I got him without a fight, though, so I was happy enough.

#24 PF, #81 overall, ****; ineligible. If he shows up, French will be good for me. Simple as that. I'd love to have him. He wouldn't be much of a scorer, at first, but that might develop.

Aaaaaaaaaand the one who I spent most of my money on and who is getting away. I should mention that I cut King. Retrospectivally, not the best idea.

#6 SF, #64 overall, ****; promised the start, promised 20 minutes. I wanted this player so badly, but La Salle ultimately won the battle. I spent too much chasing around a second big man. This was a frustrating recruiting season. I would've loved to welcome Day to campus. He'll be quite good by the time he graduates (if he doesn't leave before then). Drag. I just know that I am not going to see him on my campus.

[edit, 2/18/09:]

up to 821 after his freshman season, with a B- on FT shooting. Day would've been great for me. He started and played about 25 minutes per game, scoring a bit more than 5 points per game, and rebounding roughly 3 times per game. He'll get better yet.

[edit, 5/27/09:]

up to 938 almost at the end of his junior season. Really a nice player, but getting close to topping out. Might be draft-worthy right now. I really wish we'd signed him. I've got a couple of decent SFs now but nothing equivalent. And fussyd La Salle after Season 29.

[edit, 7/21/09:]

Day made it to 950 by the end of his career. La Salle hasn't done too much, but Day graduates having played the most minutes in school history and having scored the second most points. He would have been a very, very fine addition for Maryland.

We lost the two exhibitions, but we win this first real game.

I tried to redshirt Whittaker but he didn't agree, so I'm letting him actually play.
