Could always draft a defenseman...Lots of retired D70+ guys available, or D90+ guys who may risk injury!

Aren't defensemen considered skaters?

If so, drafting any who are over 19D is against the rules.

Yep, I didn't mean draft as a scrub - I meant draft as your <3mil$ prospect.

winnerpeg - the Oil just signed Mike Comrie. I think it's a terrible move for the real life team, but it's great news for your sim-team!

Would you at least think about average ml players
9/10/2009 7:37 PM
Thanks for the clear name changes!

I'd still rather not bump them up to average under a 100mil cap. I'd be up to a cap reduction / giving out better minor leaguers, but I think it would be a little late for that...

No cap reduction please.
9/10/2009 10:49 PM
OK, thought I'd try

Too many scrubs would get drafted if the ML players were usable - I'd rather see the veteran presence than a bunch of rookies that won't pan out in the NHL for a few more years!

Salary Cap 100 Million

***After this league has filled, the owners whose teams miss the salary cap by more than 20 million will be given the chance to draft one player from the teams that weren't picked. First come first served.

In other words, if we are spending less than $80,000,000 on our team's player salaries.

I love that fair "equalizer" rule!

Question(s):

How do you determine who gets to fill/pick first on the "equalizer" bit? Is it based on the order of when we signed up in this thread for a team?

The chronological order of when WIS users signed up for this league's teams:

1- alkaiser = Vancouver Canucks

2- synthpunk = Ottawa Senators

3- winnerpeg = Montreal Canadiens

4- tnuhnai67 = Boston Bruins

5- ninetynine = Pittsburgh Penguins

6- chucky74 = New Jersey Devils

(page 1 covered the above 6)

7- ferociousbun = Chicago Blackhawks

8- damagemiller = Philadelphia Flyers

9- synthpunk = Minnesota Wild (2nd team)

10- taybaijor = Washington Capitals

11- winnerpeg = changed my 2nd team on page 4

(page 2 covered the above 5)

12- tnuhnai67 = LA Kings (2nd team)

(page 3 covered the 1 above)

13-24

(we're on page 4 and no more teams have been chosen yet)

You've got 'em, eanh.

I've had problems with activeness for the "equalizer" draft in past leagues. It's simply going to be first come, first served after the 24 teams are taken. So check back often! :)

what the hell I will try Carolina

Sounds good, demon - good to have you aboard!

Because that Oilers team is so bad, I'll choose this other "bad" team instead as my 2nd team:

Nashville Predator Cougars

...pathetically low shots/player for every player except 1 defenseman, only 1 retired player needed to be drafted, and a payroll that's about $2 million lower than the Oilers': $64,851,080

But at least I have a player from my province:
