here are the 17 coaches in IBA who have won 2 or more NT's, I really think your IBA top 3 or top 5 comes from these 17, then it is just a matter of deciding what factors you think are important, and if they should be weighted.

most worlds are very similiar to this, if you included all coaches who have one NT, the list is 76 coaches long. Most of the variables you need to evaluate are here, notice davey and kelby have higher winning %'s than combalt and lostM, due to d1 vs d3.

Its gotta be user voted. You send out a sitemail and post here in the forums. In the sitemail you have each user make a list of their Top 10 coaches.

Now, no crazy forumla. 10pts - 1st, 9pts - 2nd, 8pts - 3rd, etc. . . .

The crazy formula comes in the tabulation. First, who is voting matters. Regular points alotted for all coaches (10, 9, 8, 7, etc...). If you coached more than 2000 HD games your points are doubled. If you coached more than 4000 HD games your points are tripled and so on. . . .
***Minimum of 200 games played (no stuffing the ballot box with a bunch of fake ID's). ***

Example. Vandydave has over 8000 games played. His votes would be worth 5x. Whoever he voted for in 1st place would get 50pts, 2nd - 45, 3rd - 40, etc. . . .

Reason: The more games you've played, the more coaches you've run into. And your opinion is that much more valuable. A recreational HDer that has 1000 games under his belt isnt going to know as may coaches as VD.

Also no combining user IDs for voting purposes. Will cause too much confusion. If you want to count both your ID's vote with both of them. But you cannot use comined wins

Last 'adjustment' would be to double the points of any user that has not been in the game for over a year. Triple for a coach that has been away for over thee years.

Example. Plumpy would not get a huge amount of votes Because probably half the users dont even know who he is. But the simple fact that he would get votes 3 years later means something and should be adjusted for. So say his grand total came to 430 pts. Tripled he would be at 1290.

It'd make life easier that you had to put together your own resume and enter it in order to be considered.

Would probably be a real time saving so coaches don't have to run all over the place looking for what you've done.

Solid Idea, a thread where everyone posts their resume. Then we can vote? That would make life easier. (oldave you get to verifiy all the submissions since it was your idea

couple of points -

While I absolutely value the longtimers, I do think that some of the coaches that have only been around 20 or something seasons if they have had success should get their due

Also, with the resume submission thing, inactive coaches are not likely to drop by to submit a resume, so we come back to is this for active, current, all-time, etc...

Should coaches who hang around in empty D III worlds and dominate get full credit for multiple championships?

Is everyone in favor of just a polling based list, or some combination of a poll and a statistical analysis? I would think that a combination approach would be more representative, assuming some kind of agreement on the statistical formula is reached...have each (poll and stats) count for half of final tally, rank off that?

Do you add tanner and tmac together or separately? I think it needs to be very subjective once the list is made so we all have something to ***** about.
