Good job red01baron....keep it up, I have read some of your cap ratings trying to make some comparisons... and are very happy to see Luther got the #24 SG.

You still have shooting guards listed above these guys Red, might want to fix that!
2/26/2010 8:51 AM
Also, how come William Moose is so low even though his red rating is so high. Is it because you hate his coach?
2/26/2010 8:51 AM
Thanks for the heads up Randy. I was tinkering with Moose's BH rating to see how that affected his overall rating. His rating in my CAP posting is accurate (3.63) and I've made the update here, along with updating the titles from SG to SF. Thanks again for letting me know. Always good to know folks are still paying some attention.

Carrol Durr = WOW!

That ATH (57) + SPD (51) + REB (59) + BLK (67) + LP (50) combination is outrageous. Great signing KUjayhawk. The rest of us just have to hope his low STA keeps him off the floor against us. What kind of potential does this beast have?
2/26/2010 11:59 PM
Wow, Durr is a beast. I would be interested in seeing his potential in all areas Jayhawk

PAS - 1
WE - 15
STA - 53 (high)
DUR - 57 (high)

I'm not going to pretend he's not a great recruit because he's pretty darn good out of the box. I'm pretty shocked at just how much better he is compared to the next best recruit. Actually, that might not be true. I don't think I've ever recruited a player who had these starting ratings before so I sort of knew he was this good.

That said ...

Durr is also a D2 ineligible recruit. 2.38 HS GPA. 18 minutes of study hall led to a 3.5 GPA first semester, but those same 18 minutes have him at a 2.2 at second semester midterms. I've upped his minutes to 30 to keep him eligible but that also is going to prevent him from developing the rest of this season. And I'll venture that grades won't stop being an issue after this season.

And he's got a 15 WE as well. I actually had to promise him a start this season to get him. Which hasn't been the worst thing in the world since I think he's WE will end up being at 19 by season's end. Still not good but it's at least on the path up from 15.

And I play a full combo defense. I put 18 minutes into offensive, defense, and defense. That's more team practice minutes than you'll typically see. But 18 isn't much for a particular set and when you combine that with the 15 work ethic, and he'll be IQ challenged all four seasons he is at Thomas. (He had a D+ in the press, but F's in flex and zone.)

When you combine the terrible grades, very bad work ethic, and not as many minutes to devote to individual practice as you would normally, I'm not sure I'm going to get the most out of him. He's got high potential in some key categories but he might not get close to reaching it. And the low work ethic might really hurt the stamina. I think his potential should make him good enough. But he might get killed in the offseason so his stamina might be an issue for four years.

I still do think he's a heck of a recruit and I think I'd have been a fool to pass him up. But it would have been a lot better for him to have ended up with a team that simply put 20 minutes into offense and defense. (Especially if that team played fastbreak since he did come to campus with a C+ in that offense.)

If you're bored and got a second, mind sharing where my recruit George Collins fits on the SF list? He's a PF but he was recruited to play SF. I wasn't overly pleased with him so I'm guessing he wouldn't make the top 25.
