drarcher's point about the number of teams in the world who are still in their original cities should not be skipped over. A handful of owners were asked to leave, and a larger handful simply over time, and new owners were allowed to pick any city they wanted. The rule mattered very little.
As several former owners mentioned earlier in the thread, the problem was not whether the rule mattered, but HOW it was changed -- unilaterally, with no owner vote, with complete disregard for the established democratic process (not to mention belittling comments directed at those who objected to the way it was handled)
Actually, hart moved his team last year from Hartford to Charleston. Nobody cared. You might want to get your facts straight. Nobody should care. This is not a "theme league" like Minor Leagues, or Majors, or Negro League or NCAA. raidersfan moved his team from Buffalo to Pittsburgh, and somehow, these folks felt that this made Double Mendoza no longer enjoyable. I think "pathetic" still sums up their response very nicely.

The first mistake was not setting the cities in stone. Didn't have to be MLB or a theme, but permanent cities whatever they were.

I understand where cbriese is coming from about the whining. The rule was already broken. That said he returned his own brand of whining in the recruitment thread and now we all look a little foolish.

The wisdom of holding a vote is what a good commish is made of.

This is very much like a bad car accident. I can't look away. Good news is no one died.

Im looking for someone from this league to act like a commish or to lynch the present one.

cbriese you're the commisioner. You being stubborn and arrogant is hurting that league. Step down, or step up and save the world !

Theres a way to fix it but I think permanent damage has been done.

If cbriese would step down or back off I'd return to my team. Back off meaning get his head out of his *** and hold votes for rule changes. We may not be able to stop the city changes but we could minimize them.

There are "shadow" tankers in that league now too. Its ridiculous not to win 125 over 2 especially knowing that you HAVE TO. Anyways that part is my opinion.

Did we vote cbriese into the commish job, or did tj hand it to him? If we voted him into the commish role, I have an issue with asking him to step down after one disagreement, when every other season we have had a fast rollover and no issues.

We could make the city rule more concrete if we wanted to. But it would have to apply to everyone, whether you're brand new, or an original owner. None of this "well new owners can pick a new city, but original owners have to stay put" garbage.

The problem with the "shadow" tankers is that we don't have a rule against that. As long as you can put together 125 wins in two seasons (and even that is somewhat debatable), nobody cares if you play sub .500 ball and throw $20M at IFA's every season. BUT, we can enforce the 125 win rule better. Make it a rule, not a vote and an opportunity to petition for your buddy from another world. Either you hit the 125 wins, or you don't.

All of you guys should come back. You know it's a good world, you know you like your team, and you know you've put a lot of work into it.

i vote for no voting on league issues.

cbriese has the pw and is stubborn. He feels he is right. Im pretty sure none of us are going to go to him for it. I don't know what to do from here. I nominate njohnson78, rodneyhuff or any other longtime member as the commish and they can reach out to the guys who . cbriese could surprise me but I doubt he will do it and the window is closing.

I have been in this world since season 2 and I hate to see it go down the toilet. We are now up to 8 openings, when it should be 1 or 2. I just posted this on the world chat and is it no way meant to be a slam to cbriese and the job he has done as the commish. I just want to be a part of the solution in fixing this world's issues

----Here’s what I propose. The 100 million cap rule is concrete; the 125 rule stays however your first infraction of the 125 rule, you get to plead your case to the world. Then the world votes on your fate. If the world votes to keep you stay, but if you have another infraction of the 125 win rule your out, no complaining, whining, or ********. Just a plain old see you later. The switching cities / changing team names rule, I say the remaining owners vote on it now and majority rules. I also propose that we add a co-commish. One represents the AL and one represents the NL.----

I had to LOL about this one: someone who is not in the league nominating a new commissioner. Why don't we just let MikeT23 decide?
2/12/2010 4:15 AM
Im all ears once the people in the league make some kind of decision. As it stands cbriese has said he doesn't want any part of the owners who . This is like a cut off your nose to spite your face deal. (I) We don't want any part of a commish who can't be reasonable. A vote would've been reasonable. Him giving some half assed excuse would've probably worked. In your face, Im going to do it and screw you doesn't work for most people.

nice timing cbriese. Your ego is unbelieveable. Remember I by choice. You aren't hurting my feelings.
2/12/2010 4:22 AM
njohnson78 seems like a good choice.

You're welcome.

Heh. I knew you could be summoned easily.

Just trying to help.

This won't be the end of controversy in DM if cbriese doesn't change his attitude, or step down. I would come back if he apologized or stepped down. But it looks like someone is interested in my team. I guess larryscubs doesn't see red flags pop up when he sees a commish slag former world members on a recruitment thread!! I would not join a world whose commish doesn't have sense to keep controversy off a recruitment thread. I'm just amazed at cbrese's attitude. He has completely ignored the beef that a legitimately sized group have with his behavior. If he still thinks that we because a team moved, and not because of his handling of the situation, I guess he's just not very bright.
