Poaching In-Conference Topic

FWIW, my policy is to avoid a conference battle if there is an equally attractive recruit I can go after. If not, just hope it doesn't drain both teams' recruiting budget.

Not when they have more then 6 open ships they do not. And are you seriously arguing the point about a kid from Texas and TT v UNC? Because that is 100% accurate point.

I am not sure what the point about more than 6 open ships means. They just lifted the $$ limit on recruiting money.

They did for about two hours, but quickly re-instated it when the masses howled........

I don't make a habit of it, but I won't shy away from it either. You put the HD equivalent of John Wall in my recruiting backyard - I don't give a damn if the Pope is on him first, I'm going after him whenever I can afford it.

A+ prestige have a good advantage as long as they are close in distance and aren't a huge money disadvantage. But if an A+ prestige has 1 or 2 open ships and is going after a guy 100 miles and they end up battling a B+ school that is about the same distance but they have 6 open ships, there is almost no chance the A+ wins that battle unless the B+ just does a terrible job. In real life that just wouldn't happen. Again I'll use UNC as an example, if they go after a recruit hard and Maryland goes after the same recruit even harder who do you think is going to land that recruit?
The B+ school would have to drop most of his budget to get the player over the A+ school. That would leave him wide open to getting poached to death and ruining his class. If I was the B+ school there would be a good chance I would back off.

if it's a 3 star recruit or less and he's within 100 miles of me, I don't care who you are(A+ etc), you're not going to get him...but the elite recruits,4 & 5 star, usually go to the schools with B prestige or better for the most part...baseline prestige SUCKS big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all of this discussion assumes that it is unambiguous that a certain player is great, much better than others

I think that potential and different roster construction approaches makes this less true than once was - I often look at 4 and 5 star guys and say "I'll pass"

i agree completely. my best players lately have mostly been 2 stars. lets skip over the possibility that is because i lost all the battles for 4 and 5 stars... but anyway, i think you can find 2 stars better than 4 stars regularly.
