No, the issue is that the right has been trying to spin beyond recognition. First it was Obama's Katrina. When that didn't catch on, it was that the oil spill was no big deal. I do no have time nor patience to quote all of the crap from the right on how this would have no significant impact on the Gulf.
What did you think would happen Swamp, that the oil would touch the beaches and set them ablaze? Did you think that the carcasses from dead animals floating in the Gulf would be so dense that you could walk from Texas to Florida on them? Is that the picture of catastrophe that you think of, because that was not the picture painted by environmentalists. That's just you and other people like you that stretch their claims to such an unrealistic point in hopes to make them look silly. And when those pictures do not show up on the evening news, you guys sit back and say, "see, another overreaction".
Everything that the environmental movement claimed has been happening. Oil was and still is trapped in the beaches, making them dangerous for recreation and wildlife. Oil seems to have made it's way into the food chain. Wildlife has been severely harmed and we haven't even scratched the surface on what it will do to spawning cycles which can devastate fishing stock for years to come. And since BP has restricted media access, we're not even sure what kind of devastation has already been done to wildlife.
You guys simply look ridiculous, trying to play this out as a minor incident.
