So we are to believe that the Obama Administration, front and center in making this the worst disaster ever, are now covering up the real disaster? I find that hard to believe.

Even so, we are still far from the original doomsday stories.
No no no.  Don't try and turn this into some cooky conspiracy theory.  That's not what this is about.

Try again.  Where are you getting your facts?

Okay I'll answer for you.  You're getting this report from BP and NOAA.

BP has billions to gain financially if this spill is played down as much as possible.  The sooner we believe it's all cleaned up, the better for them.  NOAA has released a report saying most of the oil is gone.  Sea Grant, an extension of NOAA, has released a contradictory report.  So if the same organization has contradictory evidence, whom are you to believe.
8/19/2010 5:00 PM
I'd believe that organization has NFI what the truth is.

Exactly.  Which is why the story being told by Swamp and the right wingers has no basis to it.

No No No. dont try to turn this into some kooky conspiracy theory.

Time magazine ran stories about this. The Obama administration is supporting the "It isnt as bad as first thought" theory.

This isnt about the right being extreme and thinking it was nothing. This is about the left tried to make this the worst disaster ever and it isnt.

Right wing media and politicians have been banging this drum since day one.  It was only a matter of time before the corporate media bought into it (see: Shirley Sherrod or Obama DOJ let's Black Panther off the hook).  We all know by now that the Obama Administration has a habit of caving into these nut jobs as well (see: Shirley Sherrod).

Wait... first it was "environmentalist movement" who were behind pimping the spill as the Worst Disaster Ever, but now it was the White House who were "front and center in making this the worst disaster ever".

Another contradiction from swamp. Yawn. Again, I can't understand why someone who constantly spews bullshit can't be bothered to check back a few pages to see if the bullshit is at least consistent.

Do you even understand what the term lie means?? I hate to have to keep making you look stupid! This will be like 20 times you lied about me lying!

And you dont consider Obama part of the enviromentalist movement? Mr Cap&trade himself!

And I mentioned obama early. I never seperated them. This is one of the wildest claims you have ever made, and you make some wild ones!

For the record, Obama, a pro-enviromental movement president supported the whole idea that this was a major spill. He seems to be backing off now that the truth is coming out. It is possible he is being lied to by his enviromental team.

To paraphrase...

Left wingers are welcome, but morons like you need to stop making stuff up!
8/19/2010 7:48 PM
The truth is coming out?  Again, you have nothing to back that up.  You have no idea what kind of havoc the oil spill caused.
8/19/2010 7:48 PM
Lets dump some more oil in the gulf since clearly it is no problem!
8/19/2010 7:58 PM
Just to repeat myself, of course it did damage. Of course some wildlife died and some wetlands were destroyed. Some people are going to lose their jobs. Some businesses will close.

The issue still is...Will this be a dfining moment in Gulf history, or a story you tell your grandchildren.

It wasnt the right making wild claims that need explaining under more scrutiny, it is the left!
8/20/2010 12:02 AM
No, the issue is that the right has been trying to spin beyond recognition.  First it was Obama's Katrina.  When that didn't catch on, it was that the oil spill was no big deal. I do no have time nor patience to quote all of the crap from the right on how this would have no significant impact on the Gulf.

What did you think would happen Swamp, that the oil would touch the beaches and set them ablaze?  Did you think that the carcasses from dead animals floating in the Gulf would be so dense that you could walk from Texas to Florida on them?  Is that the picture of catastrophe that you think of, because that was not the picture painted by environmentalists.  That's just you and other people like you that stretch their claims to such an unrealistic point in hopes to make them look silly.  And when those pictures do not show up on the evening news, you guys sit back and say, "see, another overreaction".

Everything that the environmental movement claimed has been happening.  Oil was and still is trapped in the beaches, making them dangerous for recreation and wildlife.  Oil seems to have made it's way into the food chain.  Wildlife has been severely harmed and we haven't even scratched the surface on what it will do to spawning cycles which can devastate fishing stock for years to come.  And since BP has restricted media access, we're not even sure what kind of devastation has already been done to wildlife.

You guys simply look ridiculous, trying to play this out as a minor incident.

Remember a few weeks ago they were telling us the Gulf was destroyed and that Florida and maybe the whole Atlantic coast would be covered in oil? Remember Obama shutting down all the drilling and putting thousands of people out of work because we cannot allow another disaster like this one?

So it is all gone now.

The enviromentalist movement is wrong about another disaster that never came.

Just want to show where this thread started so we can bring Swamps POV back into perspective.
