TAKEN! 1974 Yanks are for fans of pitching. Fritz Peterson can be twisted to his 1969 season: 272 IP, 2.55 ERA, 0.996 WHIP, just 15 HRA. 1972 Pat Dobson: 268.1 IP, 2.65 ERA, 1.077 WHIP, 13 HRA. 1981 Larry Gura: 172.1 IP (projects to about 250 IP/162), 2.72 ERA, 1.010 WHIP, 11 HRA (projects to 16). 1980 Rudy May: 175 IP, 2.46 ERA, 1.044 WHIP, 14 HRA. Sparky Lyle and Cecil Upshaw are the top relievers. Offense led by Nettles, Munson, Murcer, Piniella, and Roy White. Other good twists include '66 or '67 Jim Ray Hart, '72 Duke Sims (Detroit partial as PH: .316 BA/.432 OBP), '79 Otto Velez (.288-15-48, .396 OBP in 274 AB/325 PA) as righty platoon 1B/OF, '69 Horace Clarke and '71 Sandy Alomar for speed at middle infield, '74 Elliott Maddox (.303 BA/.395 OBP), '69 Mike Hegan (.292/.427) as lefty platoon 1B/OF. You will have to be creative to score runs, but you will be in a big park and should win a lot of pitching duels.

Give me 2005 Angels.
11/5/2010 11:45 AM
Thanks, Chris_son. Just 3 owners needed. I am in your dad's Sparky Anderson league as well, and just finished making my team at less than $50K under the $100M cap.

Advanced notice: when and if there is a 3rd and final Steinbrenner league (with the remaining unused seasons), I will lower the cap to $100M as well for that one. This one remains at $120M.

74 Yanks, 02 Angels and 06 Tigers still remaining.
11/6/2010 7:09 AM
oh and 2010 Rangers too...

I think most teams are going to be well under this cap so don't let that deter you.

Like I said, I will take the last rival team so I am giving everyone the top 2 choices of the last 3. Don't let the 1974 Yankees' park status deter you either. They finished just 2 games behind Baltimore and might have won the AL East that year if Yankee Stadium weren't being renovated, and once again, their rotation is off the charts.

Hoops101010 just claimed the 1974 Yanks. All Yankees teams are now claimed and we just need 2 more people to claim either the 2002 Angels, 2006 Tigers, and 2010 Rangers. I know which one I want left for me but I'm not saying.
11/6/2010 10:06 AM
I'll take the '06 Tigers
11/6/2010 12:03 PM

Thanks, Szcz. There's the 2002 Angels and the 2010 Rangers left. We need 1 more owner and then I will take the team left over.

11/6/2010 3:49 PM
I have already drafted both remaining teams so I am ready to put in the one that goes unclaimed. Let's get it started!
11/7/2010 7:32 PM
For the first time I have entered 2 teams in the same league with my selection of the 2002 Angels in an effort to get the league going.   Hopefully you get the team you wanted all along, the 2010 Rangers.
