honestly, i feel he gets a some credit, but he is not the coach here any more. i am the reason for the strong tourny run and undefeated season. its amazing how some of you are short changing me becuase its my first season at the school.
coachuk, don't listen to those people. don't let them get you down. if you coached the team well, you coached them well, and nobody can take that away from you.
the reason people are saying what they are saying is, a lot of people believe recruiting far outweighs coaching. so they feel if 1 coach recruits a team, and another coaches them to a championship, the recruiting coach gets say 70% of the credit, and the coach gets say 30%.
this has to be evaluated on a case by case basis, but in general, i think people are crazy for thinking the above. coaching is a huge part of success. i have won with teams that the original coach had 0% chance of winning with, and they were half his players, mostly his upperclassmen were starting though. in that case, many people would say he gets most of the credit. how does that make sense? i don't know, and i strongly disagree. however, i do see where people are coming from in a way, just because you can coach a team to a title, does not imply you can recruit and coach a team to a title. so people feel to really prove you can do something, you need to do it with your own players. but like i said, a great coaching job is a great coaching job, and nobody can take that away from you.
