The Best DIII Team of All-Time Topic

Nobody said you're not "allowed" to do it, and I think you're the only one who said anything about someone being a "dick" when they do it. It's really not a big deal, but I am not alone when I say I find it odd. You never hear lostmyth talk about his accomplishments (he just had 8 players drafted from his St. Bonaventure team, including 6 in the 1st round, after his latest NT), but somehow people know about them. To each his own I guess.
i didn't know, that's cool though

Lostmyth doesn't count, he doesn't talk about anything anymore. By saying you think it's odd you are directly implying that you don't think people should do it, which is really no different than what I've been saying I don't get. But whatever, some people think one way, some think another and it's silly this debate has gone on this long.

Is my D3 team.  It would be a decent game.  Your center vs. mine would be a good matchup too.  And my team isn't even in the top 50 all time.

Ath 82 v 62
Spd 18 v 30
Reb 98 v 96
Def 81 v 69
Blk 93 v 98
LP 81 v 94
Per 1 v 3
BH 1 v 1
Pa 1 v 23
Stm 76 v 73
FT B v C+

But my center is a junior, so maybe next year.  Very good team, but not the greatest of all time.
Agreed.  And for the record I didn't put my team out there to say it was better than Jones, just that it seemed to be in the same ballpark, and given 10 games, we might win 3.

But I'll check back with this thread in about 45 days.  My team only loses 1 starter, and that center I put up vs. Jones top player was a junior who isn't tapped out in anything except rebounding/shot blocking.

And we still won't be the best team ever.  Rails in Allen won like  5 D3 NTs in 6 years or something.  THAT team is my best ever.
Well its been about 30 days, So I thought I would give this an update.

Who do you want playing D3 center for you?

Jones C  /  My C
Ath 82  /  63
Spd 18  /  32
Reb 98  /  99
Def 81  /  71
Blk 93  /  99
LP 81  /  98
PER 1  /  7
BH 1  /  1
PA 1 /  28
Stm 76  /  74
FT B  /  C+

Basically you got 20 points of Ath and 10 points of Def vs. 15 points of speed, shot blocking and 25 points of passing.
Guy on the right's numbers are just nuts this year too, 19.9ppg, 10.9rpg, 3.7blk.
http://www.wisjournal.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Stats.aspx?tid=8653&pid=1616460

Needs 34 blocks in his last 10 games to become the all time D3 career shot blocking leader at 316.

you should bump this at the end of those ten. I wanna know if he makes it.

Bump

Jones C  /  Reinsel's C
Ath 82  /  63
Spd 18  /  32
Reb 98  /  99
Def 81  /  71
Blk 93  /  100
LP 81  /  99
PER 1  /  11
BH 1  /  1
PA 1 /  29
Stm 76  /  74
FT B  /  C+

At this point , it's 19 points of ATH and 10 DEF against 14 of SPD, 7 BLK, 18 LP, and 28 PASS.

He's playing in the DIII Championship game tonight.  Reinsel's dude averaged 20 and 10 on .600 shooting as a senior, will graduate with around 2400 points, 1250 rebounds, and 330 blocks.

"how else would we know about it, if he didn't say it himself?"

That's fine.  I understand that, and don't have a problem with the thread per se.

But again, there's a difference between, "hey, look at these awesome accomplishments," and "I'm the best ever."
I agree with this, but hey Jones goes about things differently. I also think a bit of what Jones says is tongue in cheek and gets a kick out of people snapping at him. We actually talk on AIM and he talks trash to me and I talk trash back (It's going to have to be considerably less now since he's won 3 titles since I won my 1st) but we never get offended it's all in fun.

I just don't like or get the opinion that you aren't allowed to speak about your own accomplishments.
you think everyone gets a kick out getting a rise out of people

Barratt/Weddington/Cruce form a great backcourt, with Barratt dishing it out (shoots .500 from the field as well, with almost .500 from 3pt land), Weddington being the 3 pt sharpshooter, and Cruce slashing the lanes (shoots .600+).

McNeal is the 6th man coming in when either Weddington or Cruce is taking a breather (Weddington needs it, being the unconditioned slob that he is), while the twin towers of Krawitz and Hursey grabs the boards.

That team is pretty damn good. I want to say the lack of LP scoring option hurts but since you went 35-0 and shot over 47% from 3 it didn't matter at all.

FWIW, I'd take jones center far and away. Not only the athleticism and defense, but also free throw shooting is way better.

Wish I could look as good as any of these.

I have a D3 team in Rupp where tianyi has his Ripon team and While I don't think it's the best of all time it was very, very good and I think over all it is better than the others mentioned. But I was around when the Team with almost all D1 recruits was winning buy 40 and 50 a game at D3 so to say the best of all time for me is hard. I will say possibly the best legally formed team.lol   As far as Reinsal or Jones' C you can't go wrong with either they actually look almost even to me.

I don't think any D3 (or even D2 team?) can match the d3 team that had all D1 recruits.

Well, come on, that was a major glitch.

But on a serious note, none of today's D3 teams can match the top D3 teams of 3-5 years ago, because the recruits back then were simply better. (For example, I remember signing Damon French to my Redlands squad, he came in at 60+ in reb, def, lp, ath and bl and there weren't caps on any of them. Last time I looked he was still the leading scorer there.)
4/13/2011 4:47 PM
I don't know girt, for the last year or so the D2 and D3 players were amazing. Eventhough there weren't caps in ath/sp you would never see more than a 5 point improvement in ath/sp in a season and in the majority of cases it was 4 and counting off season improvement you wouldn't get more than 20-25 improvement for a career. Also LP mattering for guards I think turned high LP guards into very efficient scorers. I know on my Whitman teams I had some studs but I'm also sure the 2 best D3 players I ever signed were on my Cal Santa Cruz team.
