I think having guys like Pujols and Kiner actually make things a bit easier.  You know you can leave them until the end and not really suffer much for it.

Another cap saving measure, as most of his seasons jump another $2M+:

OF defense is overrated.
^overpriced and overvalued.    However,

If you get Lance Johnson to make 17+ plays and he hits .270 with 162 hits out of 600 ab's, I value each + play as at least a hit offenseivly.  If you do give him a hit for each plus play, his average jumps to .298.

But then you have to factor in the craziness of the simulator which rewards fast players and if he hits it to a D/D fielder, his hit may cause a lot of chaos to the box score.
So maybe it is not that crazily overrated, just precieved that way

I do the same thing when factoring in defense vs offense.  But keep in mind that not all outfield "+" plays are hits turning into outs.  There are many "+" plays whcih turn doubles into singles.  So you have to read boxscores to figure out what percentage of + plays are worth a hit and not just an extra base.

Personally, I'll take an A+++ range infielder over an outfielder.  Virtually all their + plays are hits turning into outs.

Schwarze, I hate long quotes so this is a continuation of that conversation:

I am aware that all + plays are not outs, but I think that is balanced out by saying not every hit is a single either.  That being said, I sleep better knowing I have at least one + outfielder, whom I believe git a bit of a magnet towards them.
I do agree about ++++ infielders, except 1st basmen.  You can put Dave Kingmans OF seasons there and he'll do fine.
